So in my current US game I will have to check the difficulty settings. Anyway it is early '44 and I have invaded Vichy France and captured Northen Italy. I also have a bunch of troops stuck in southern Sicily. I already liberated N. Africa and I am working on liberating Indochina. I just realized that the Germans have nearly taken all of the USSR and I noticed that they have nearly 80 divisions in Northern Sicily and another 80 plus in the "boot". So I start thinking WTF? So I look to see how many divisions they have and no joke they have 500 exactly. How is this possible? There is no chance I can compete with that I have half a mind to load up as Germany and delete 250 divisions. Anyone have any suggestions??

On the harder difficulty settings, the AI countries get bonuses to IC, manpower, and resources. For comparison in my last game as Germany on VH, I waited til '42 before attacking Russia and they had over 800 army divisions... That's just the way it works on the harder levels. Your opponents will have 2 or 3 times as many units as a human player would have been able to build.

This is due to the bad AI, you have compensate in numbers for what he lacks in brains.

It's a normal thing for the Germans in HSR to have an insanely large army...However I don't know the reason for that. I was expecting more in 1944, not 'only' 500. In one of my games they beefed up 266 by 1940.

Germans and Russians are particularly nasty because they build inf like crazy. Germany always has 200+ divisions by start of war with maybe only 10 armoured. I usually edit the ai a bit to make them build more tanks and mot.

In every HSR2 game I have played, Germany has more divisions then The USSR and they ALLWAYS win!

I think the German-Russian is OK, the lack of US/UK involment needs to be changed.
They should attack European mainland when the can an dont sit still in UK or Africa.

HSR has many, many unit creation events for Germany.

But it is possible to beat them as the US. I made landings in Italy, and was able to move up north and capture Rome. USSR was pretty much kaput, with not much for German resistance inside the borders. I landed troops up in Normandy, and rendezvoused with Patton from the south (he went west, while I fortified the northern border of Italy, using Switzerland as a buffer). Once I made a spearhead into France, it really wasn't too difficult to just blast my way all the way to Berlin.

the reasons for this imbalance is because of cheap inf for Germany and the steep org subtraction of soviety troops during the purges. every game i have seen russia with an outnumbered army of an average of 25 org, while a huge german army with averages of 100 org mop them up too quickly. i thought they would have resolved this long ago

I think the biggest problem in games where both Germany and Russia are controlled by the AI is making Germany strong enough to be able to conquer a significant portion of Russia and then finding a way to make Russia strong enough to stage a come back. That's not easy to do without events that either create huge numbers of units for one side or the other or events that radically change the overall effectiveness of their troops.

Also keep in mind that if it had been purely a 1 on 1 fight between Russia and Germany it's quite likely that Germany would have won. Fighting a 2 front war against both the Allies and Russia is what brought Germany down. The fact that the allies don't stage a large scale land invasion in the early stages of Barbarossa means that Germany can focus almost entirely on Russia.

Try landing a significant invasion force in France soon after Germany attacks Russia and I'd be willing to bet Russia will do MUCH better.

I wonder why the programers havent fixed this problem yet.

It seems that The SU stops producing untis while Germany goes nuts, and not only that when the AI purges the officers corps they lose 40% org!

I have played my first game with Brazil in HSR 2.05 and Germany steamrolled The SU in a couple of months.

I have allways played HSR but I will not play HSR untill you have fixed this stupid problem! I mean The SU NEVER win it ALLWAYS gets trashed by the Germans!

PS. Bad English.

HSR, I have found, is far to Germanocentric. A .DE domain might be the reason.

What domain would be neutral then?

Its an mod under development, the difference is that they dont wait for ever to realese it.

Couldn't the soviet org loss be corrected after Finnish Winter War... If I remember correctly it was after Winter War Stalin realized how inefficient his army was and started some reforms?

Yes that is correct, and it is not uncommon that they lose against the finns!

I agree that this mod is Germanocentric but otherwise it is a good mod.

It is no secret that Stony Road IS very German oriented. God bless it for being that, but that is old news.

It is good when you play USSr or the UK but when you play a minor you don´t want a all powerful Germany ALL THE TIME!

What about Switzerland? I live there; I am from British origin and lived in Argentina :).

Unfortunately for some Germany is the most played country so we started from there. In HSR 2.06 I tested a British player (always talking about Grofaz level, other levels may vary of course because of different bonuses for the ai) and Germany advanced well into Russia until the winter 41 when it was stopped and begun loosing territory. I am quite happy with the result there. Did not manage to see the end though. Another report described the same only that it was further followed, and the soviets seemed to have been stopped in Poland... did not get what this stop means though. A report I saw today shows Germany in 42 at the gates of Moscow but unable to take it and in fact starting to loose terrain as well so I guess we need more reports to assess the results. Remember the difficulty level settings, those can change everything.
