Destroying French Empire

Hi guys

does somebody know how to create a good strategy against France?

All know that France is a real superpower in multiplayer and it's difficult to win a war being other nation. Let's take the example of Austria in 1492. we don't have to be a scientist to realise that Austria is too weak to break french goverment alone, but there is a chance if England and Spain join in a war too.

i'll post an aar soon about a posible strategy against french expantion that i played in 1492, but i prefer to read all posible strats first. You'll realise that there is other strats to win a war, diplomatic way (preferable being Austria) or a huge war way (Spain and England).

You have to use diplomacy my friend, diplomacy!

You must to explain that ;p

Sometimes France is too agressive and demand flandern and not his common cores. diplomacy must be used to stronger an alliance with Spain and England. there are many ways to use diplomacy of course. Austria could also sell those cores, it's a posibility.

Austria usually loose his first war with France, but there is a chance that Austria could win a quick war when France is attacking Italy. That means more time to expand and recruit soldiers ;p

Hola Ganja ;p

well democles, tell me which country you played and how you managed.

Well. I've played the 1492 scenario about half a hundred times. The /last/ time however, I was Austria in a five player game. I bided my time until I got Frundsberg after a few years, while aggressively annexing German statelets all the while. With a shock 5 Austrian general around for the next 20 or so years and built 50k cavalry in the Netherlands France was trying desperately to get me into /his/ alliance and never impeded on my territory at all.

What I hate most about Austria's starting position is that I have to lose either my Italian or Dutch possessions to his greedy fingers.
