Several female names for the German culture are mistakenly set as male in the character names file. They are Adelaide, Agathe, Agnes, and Alberade. I was quite surprised to see that the new King of Germany was named Agnes.

Inge is a female name last i checked .



Some other things related to names. Is it possible to add more names manually?
I am beginning to be a little tired of Bo, Mikkel, Hemming, Peder, Jens og Knud.
Well also the computer tends to chose the same name for a generation and then forget other names. In my current kings fathers time everybody was named Knud or Hemming. Now everybody wants to be called Mikkel and Bo.

Dunno if it is a bug.

Inge is a female name last i checked .

Nope, not in Norway it isn't. Inga on the other hand...

Perhaps those danish men have Norwegian origin or most likely the research is incorrect

Go to the CK/db folder, and open character_names.csv. There are three columns, separated by semicolons:
danish;male;Abel

The first column is the culture, the second the gender and the third the name. Just add more lines.

Actually, Inge is listed as a possible Danish male name. Dunno how that happened...

Though plenty of woman. I believe there is little chance I am wrong as long as it is Danish culture. Dunno about Norwegian and Swedish.

No i don't think you're wrong. I just wanted to point out that Inge is a norwegian male name (I know it is a danish female name). That's prob. what happed, a little mix up.

Yea had my trouble with ‘Inge’ too. But I did some research into it, while making my own much extended name file, and it is a male name!
I know I know, not a soul in Denmark would dream of calling a male boy this, today, but they did once.

‘Inge’ is the corruption - misspelling - new spelling, whatever you want, of ‘Yngvi’, the Scandinavian MALE fertility god.
Also known as ‘Freyr’, which actually only means lord, the title of ‘Inge’ (Yngvi).

You have to pronounce it with an almost silent ‘e’, like INGe with a hard ending on the G.
Today ‘Inge’ is pronounced with a long ‘e’ at the end, giving it a female touch.

Well I have downloaded the 1.03a patch

Adelaide, Agathe, Agnes and Alberade are still listed as German male names.

Not a major bug of course.

Not to mention that two of the starting German bishops in the 1066 scenario (one is in Chur IIRC, the other somewhere in Saxony) have those names.
