6pack EU2 Problems...Please help...

Ever since I misplaced my initial EU2 game I have had problems playing the the "Crown of the North" and now the "6pack" As soon as a select a country to play and click on the start game tab the game CTD's...Now with the 6pack version I have the 1.08 patch downloaded. After reading several post it appears that the patches from Paradox do not work for the 6-pack. however when I install the 6pack EU2 version it still says 1.08. I have deleted every file so that I can start without a patch(I'm assuming the 1.08 is the CTD problem) however I cant. Does the 6pack actually come with the 1.08. Should the set up sceen have 1.08 or 1.06 or 1.00?

Basicly my problem is my 6pack version of EU2 wont play.... Neither did my "Crown of the North" version either. Is it because of the initial patch that I have always had (1.08)?

Any Assistance will be greatly appreciated...
 
Still looking for an answer to this one. Should I download the Beta over the 1.08..? Should I change the name of some files...
I'm using XP...It says XP is compatible...

Probably you should try Castellon's standard procedure:

1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.
 
AFAIK the EU2 in the six-pack is 1.08 and should work with beta patches if you want to use them. If the above advice doesn't stop the CTDs you should make sure the game isn't trying to run at a screen resolution your system doesn't support. Try using the EU2_settings program to run at a lower resolution. Note the opening screen and menus are always 800x600 so they can work fine while loading a scenario fails.
 
Thanx alot guys its working now....

I defragmented my pc. Then I renamed the avi file to AVI_back. After that I removed almost all of the back ground icons except for volume, and my printer. and the clock.
Now it works... :)
 
Sorry about the delay I was off up north this weekend.
Glad others were able to chanel me and get you sorted out. :)
