Having had enough of royal posts seemingly "not working", I went into the improvment file and put them back at demesne=1.2 (just in case the 1.01 patch got it wrong). At first I noticed no change, but I left them there (too lazy to change back).

Later on, after I went on some heathen conquering, I had far more provinces that I could administer (11 more in fact), but I didn't want to award them to vassals just yet, hoping for the conversion event to fire first for the +100 piety.

That is when I noticed that, instead of a 100% large demesne penalty that my new provinces had, I had only a 80% penalty in those demesne that had a royal post. And it did affect the total efficiency for the province, and the gold produced.

This, then, is how it seems to work : royal post lower the maximum penalty you can have for having to many provinces, by 20%, from 100% to 80%.

If this is WAD, then the royal posts need to be put back to demesne =1.2, and the description and the rollover text need to be changed to something more appropriate, for example :
"maximum penalty for demesne : 80%"

If nothing else, the modifier in the province improvement file should revert to its original 1.2 from its current 0.8 - however the proposals in those threads would seem worthwhile looking at for implementation. Simplest would probably be to reduce the demesne penalty by 20% in a province that has a royal post.

I tried with more than 5 different kingdom in 1066 scenario that building royal posts doesn't effect on large demense penalty. In 1.01, there was no that bug. Also there are still ineffective constructions. EX: building school soesn't give prestige point.

What royal posts do is cap the large demense penalty at 80%, so if you have a demense of 150 provinces you'll still have an income efficiency of 20% in each (not counting any other modifiers).

Not exactly, once you hit the large demense point of 100%, you can't build jack, not even a Royal Post to give you that 20% demense income. I just posted it, trying to see if it is a bug, but yeah, royal posts lock the large demense penalty at 80% so it is nice to have, if you are going for the big ogre nation.
