Marriage for diocese bishop?

I've noticed that if you've had a court member assigned as diocese bishop that you can offer a marriage for him.
Concerning to that other bishops couldn't marry, i think this is possibly a bug?!

It's a bug alright, but would IMHO require more than just a simple fix of not allowing marriage of the current diocese bishop. Instead all those which have even for a day been selected as a diocese bishop would get perhaps a trait "man of the church" meaning they can never marry. And it should only be possible to make a diocese bishop from a man who hasn't been married. The same trait should also be given when a man is chosen to be a bishop or archbishop of a province.

I'm just wondering about your suggested fix...Someone who has been married but isn't when they get appointed bishop is acceptable, no?
and likewise, wouldn't a man who was a bishop be able to leave the church and marry later?

Someone who has been married can become a priest/bishop if his spouse is dead or the marriage has been annulled by the Pope.

Someone who leaves the church basically chooses to excommunicate himself. He cannot marry in church nor will he likely be respected by other ppl in a medieval setting.

More than this, you can grant bishopric title to a muslim with religion related traits.

Perhaps i should try to make the pope a muslim.

:D

That reminds me of the Protestant Papacy that Carolus Rex created in EU2 - the firestorm of controversy in the forum (this is pre-release of EU2) - and the subsequent *fake* AAR that we betas put together to make all the worse fears of the EU2 faithful come true. :D It was called the "Teutonic Plague" and included a *game-end* result, as actually exists in CK where if you become the Teutonic Knights your came is done once you die...

ROFL

I had totally forgotten about that! :D :D

I married off a diocese bishop, but he lost the post when he married. I don't see a major problem here.

I think it's because he moves to your court.
But if you have a diocese bishop and marry him, then he is still diocese bishop!

No, he started in my court, and was still in my court after the marriage, but was no longer diocese bishop after the marriage.

Just go ahead and appoint him again. :)
Having marriage will remove all appointment, same for steward, spymaster, blah blah blah.

OK, there is now some management (albeit temporary in my case) in this forum. There are several bugs mentioned here about variations on problems with Diocese Bishops. Could someone please summarize?

Thanks,

State

[a note to my newbie co-mods :D - I haven't changed the title of the thread yet, since we haven't *dispositioned* it.]

They can be married off if they are part of your family. This is wrong.

They can also be appointed if they are married. This is wrong.

already logged, despite what State machine said...:D

Why not giving each son of a bishop automatically the trait "bastard"?
That's funny...now i have a bishopric in 1.02 and after the first bishop dies the new bishop has the trait bastard! :D
I'm not really sure if this is WAD, bit it's a bit strange.
