So basically I had a concept for a game that Paradox could make. It would take CK2's dynasties, feuds and backstabbing plots and mix them with the more modern political systems of the Victorian age. You could play as a long line of Monarchs ruling in Europe, or maybe a petty governor ruling land overseas in the name of the British Empire? Perhaps you'd rather denounce the Emperor of Japan as a Daimyo and take up arms with the Shogun. Maybe money and power are what you seek and you play as the head of a wealthy family in the USA as you etch out a career in politics. You could do this and perhaps more.

It would use most of the base mechanics of CK2 such as factions, traits and character opinions but have less emphasis on war and more on intrigue and diplomatically annexing rivals. Of course this doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to war. Monarchs, Emperors and Presidents would have no problem declaring war on their enemies and seizing land in the name of nationalism. Behind their backs however, the less powerful governors would plot coups, start factions and sometimes even hire mercenaries or gangs of criminals to enforce their rule. Some more extreme characters may even stage assassinations. Factions could range from changing simple laws to something more extreme like allowing/disallowing slavery. If you took part in the faction to change a law you could rise up and defy the ruler of your nation should they feel like changing it back. A more British republican character may wish to completely overthrow the crown of the British Empire and replace it with a fully functioning democracy with him as it's new president.

Think of the nation customization of a game like Victoria mixed with the cloak and dagger game play of Crusader kings 2. I think it would be a heck of a game, but what do you guys think?

You've been watching a lot of Downton Abbeyand Copper lately, haven't you? :p

Seriously, it sounds like a good idea, at first glance. However, there are so many people (not myself included) who have balked at the idea of even such a game set in the late renaissance era, the century after the end of CK2, to cover the tudors, Borgias, and the like. I doubt you'll get much better interest for the Victorian ERa, as much as it might add some interesting flavor to the victorian era. .

+1

I would very much prefer a dynastic game set between 15th and 16th centuries.

I kinda like the Aristocrat Versus Capitalist type of mood in the Coming of the Modern Era. This would make World War One amazing, and an actual concept Paradox can use to their advantage. Kinda like Sims except CK2 style, you can run for politics/Enlist/Make an underground Mafia world (Great Gatsby), or just try to hold on to your manor (Downton Abbey) The Fall of the American Dream, and the rise of Communism/Facisim/Extremism.
