A Few Good Questions

Just a few questions, that I hope can be answered:
1)How to create units to allow you to explore unchartered territories?
2)Once I have eliminated all enemy forces and seiged units in a territory formerly controlled by the enemy, how do I claim that territory, so I can begin to get revenue, build troops, etc.?

1. You can't create Explorers or Conquistadors. They appear at various times depending on hte country you're playing. Spain/Portugal get them earliest; some countries not at all. Your regular army/navy units can also explore once they reach the necessary tech level (I don't remember the levels off hand, but they're high).

2. Go to the diplomatic screen, send a diplomat to that nation (by clicking on the map) and select 'offer Peace.' A screen will appear on the left where you can demand tribute. You can ask for provinces or money or both depending on how much you've conquered. If you've conquered the whole country, you can select 'Annexation.'
