I've got a good game going, and I'm going to convert it to Vicky. However, I have some housekeeping to do in the savegame, and I was hoping you guys could tell me how to do them.

1. How do you convert the religion of a province in a savegame? I'm a little annoyed that the US has as many Pagan provinces as Protestant, and that I accidentally released Mexico as a Pagan nation. Would it entail anything else to change Mexico's state religion?

2. How do you liberate nations in a savegame? There were some really interesting revolters- Quebec, Canada, Haiti- which got dipo- annexed (or were Pagan nations). I want them back.

3. How do you give nations new provinces through the savegame? Louisiana revolted, but the only province it has is Biloxi. Mexico is split in half by Spain. And I don't want all of those Pagan native americans floating around.

search the province you want and you'll find a thing like this:

province = {
id = IdOfTheProvinceYouWannaChange
whiteman = yes
natives = 0
culture = "..." with this voice you can change (or add it if it is not shown,IE standard culture of the prov) the culture as you want
religion = ... with this voice you can change (or add it if it is not shown,IE standard religion of the prov) the religion as you want
}

2. How do you liberate nations in a savegame? There were some really interesting revolters- Quebec, Canada, Haiti- which got dipo- annexed (or were Pagan nations). I want them back.
Difficult using the savegame... you'd better playing with the nation that owned them and release as vassals then save the game :)

1- prov owned by other nation: simply cut&copy in the "new" nation, remember to add prov IDs in owned&controlled of the "new" and delete those IDs in owned&controlled of the "old"
2- prov not owned: search the ID in the province part (4 exemple province = { id = 510 whiteman = yes } )add culture&religion,better if you delete the voice "natives" if it is present, then search the nation for that province and add it as a city, remember at least this voices:
city = {
name = "..." name you want for the city
population = ....... at least 0.001
location = ... ID of the prov
}

Thanks, this was just what I needed. A little annoying, all of that copying and pasting and scrolling, but just what I needed.

Another question, though- I can't load up as England to release Quebec. It's greyed out on the nation selection screen. Is there any way I can change that?

The same is true for all the countries which have their own shield in the countryselection screen when you first started the game and selected your country.

You can evade that problem. Start a new game (e.g. Grand Campaign) as England - it´s not important which time you choose. Then, when the game started and you´re England, e.g. 1492 *load* the savegame you have from your earlier game. And voilá you are playing England in THAT savegame.

Make whatever mischieveous changes you want to Englands Empire, then save. Exit that game. Load your former savegame as whatever you played. Then load your saved England game - and you are again your old nation, but you have the changes made to England you wanted.

you can also choose a different country when you load save game right clicking as a new one :)

Well alright, very helpful. Thank you both!

Yes, but only if the other country was not one of the shield-countries. In that case, you have to do what ConjurerDragon said (or else edit the save file).
