Hello!

So as I mentioned some posts back where heading into beta, which means that all systems currently in the game is being overhauled to make sure they still fit the system and no additional design is needed. At this time we also look at the feedback we've gotten from the alpha testing and make changes accordingly.

Today I'm working on the custom game generator, the play mode that will allow a player to basically just start up a new world and play the game without pre-defined victory conditions or a time limit...oh and as a side note, stuff below is highly iterated upon right now so I can't promise that everything will be in the game or at this is all there will be.

The Custom Game Mode works like a lot like other skirmish modes out there. You get to select some parameters of the world generation, such as resource abundance, event room frequency (and danger level), what starting area you'd like to have and similar settings. You also have the option to link a custom game to a current ingame save file to gain some bonuses, you can of course also save and load your custom games.

Someone asked about a peaceful mode; yes the changes the player can make in regards to event rooms and resources generation the player will be able to make a world without enemies to play around in.
While the custom game won't influence the campaign in any way as of right now there will be features in the custom game that will be absent in the campaign so be sure to play both modes ^^

I've gotta head back to work and I'll see you next week.

This is great that you plan to have a complete game generator.

And I'm a little bit currious about the linking of custom game to a current ingame save file... I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean by that and what could the link look like.

Poor dwarves with no orcs to hack up :(

I'm intrigued by the linking of games too. Would your progress on the campaign unlock certain bonuses which are then available in custom games, or something like that?

Yes something like that, while playing the single player game you will gain some progression that you take with you from level to level, and it would be great if some of those bonuses could be used in the Custom Games as well. I'm not entirely sure how it will affect the final product, but I'm sure we'll think of something ^^.
