I've noticed that CK2 has at least 2 interesting character lists: Interesting Characters Guide on the wiki and A List of Interesting Female Characters on the forums. So I decided to make one myself. If you have any suggested characters, then give us their name, starting date and a short description of their situation. The list is in no particular order, but I may change it if it proves to be too confusing.

I'll start:

Lord Monterys Velaryon of Driftmark, A Feast For Crows: One of the two characters in Westeros with High Valyrian culture at this start date, the other one being his uncle. Monterys is a 7-year old child and a vassal under Stannis, but he follows the Seven.

Lord Selwyn Tarth of The Straits of Tarth, A Feast For Crows: A 54-years old wifeless lord which is not engaged in any wars. His heir, Brienne of Tarth, has Celibate trait.

Lord Ferret Crabb of The Whispers, Bleeding Years and Aegon's Conquest: A 59-years old man with only one province. The province is mediocre at best and borders lands of Aegon the Conqueror. He is also one of four independent count-level lords in Seven Kingdoms and he isn't a de jure vassal of any other character.

Lord Arthor Magnar of Skagos, Blackfyre Rebellion: Leader of Skagosi Uprising which lasted 40 years. He has a much smaller force than Jonnel Stark and no good alliance options, as he worships the same gods as Wildlings.

Tormund Gianstbane of The Haunted Forest, A Feast For Crows: Tormund is bordered by the rebels of Craster's Keep, Hardhome, The Night's Watch and White Walkers. He's also the strongest independent Wildling in this start date.

Prince Doran of The Dorne, Robert's Rebellion: You aren't engaged in war on any of the sides, but your sister is a wife of Rhaegar Targaryen and some Mountain might be Riding to Dragonstone...

Archon Tycho Zokan of Tyrosh, War of the Ninepenny Kings: Technically a ruler of Tyrosh, but he has only one province, Little Tyrosh, and he is also at war with The Golden Company. Rest of his rightful lands is in the hands of Maelys Blackfyre.

Lord Howland Reed, A Feast For Crows: One of closest (living) friends of Ned Stark and a great warrior despite of being a Crannogman. Meera and Jojen seem to never return unless they inherit, but Jojen also often dies of poor physique.

Lord Gilbert Farring of Farring Cross, A Feast For Crows: Gilbert worships R'hlorr, but his small folk still prefer the Seven. Farring Cross borders King's Landing and its 33000 angry Reachmen, while Farrings have all their forces in Castle Black.

Feel free to add your suggestions.

Lord Roger Reyne of Castamere, years before Robert's Rebellion bookmark: You are the Red Lion, the proud lord from the song Rains of Castamere. You aren't like your sister Ellyn Reyne, Kevan Lannister was your squire and you were as angered as Tywin Lannister when Genna Lannister betrothed to Emmon Frey. But you murdered Tywin's mother Jeyne Marbrand's relatives "over a misunderstanding" when Denys Marbrand sent to capture your sister Ellyn Reyne and her husband Walderan Tarbeck when they angered Aegon V Targaryen (the Egg.) Tywin's father Tytos Lannister, as Lord of the Rock pardoned you, your sister and your brother in law. Tywin can't demand repayment of your (and every other noble's and merchant's in Westerlands) loans to Lannisters in the game but would you attempt to change toothless golden lions with red lions regardless?

There was a previous thread like this, but it's old and probably out of date.

I'll just mention a couple:

-Jon Roxton, Lord of the Ring, Dance of Dragons scenario:
He has excellent martial and fighting skills, as well as his own Valyrian steel sword. In the books, he killed Lord Costayne and Hugh Hammer, before dying in a 10 on 1 fight (though not without taking 3 of them with him). Just be careful tangling with all the dragons.

-Orton Merryweather, Lord of Longtable, AFFC
You start with excellent stewardship, a foreign wife with good intrigue, and a young son, with no liege between you and the Tyrells, making it one of the easier count starts, as the Reach is usually fairly safe. You also have a clear motivation: your house lost many of its lands during Robert's Rebellion, due to your grandfather's inept Handship.

Reactions:
-Lord Haegon Blackfyre of Rain House, 8219 (Third Blackfyre Rebellion):
You start out with a single province fighting against Aerys I on the Iron Throne, but at the start of the war at least one of the Lord Paramounts is bound to join your cause.
No, Haegon's stats aren't anything to write home about, but it's an unusual start that I don't see played very often, and can be fairly easy if you luck out and get the right allies.
Can you succeed where your father and brother failed, and finally place the black dragon on the Iron Throne?

Torrhen 'the King who Knelt' Stark, The War of Conquest : You start out as King in the North, with an extremely useful chokepoint located in the Neck. Can you reenact the Rape of the Three Sisters and succeed where your ancestors failed? Can you conquer the Lands Beyond the Wall, force the Wildlings to bend the Knee and finally declare yourself King of the First Men? Can you resist the Targaryens and show once and for all that Dragons are nothing compared to the might of Winter? Will you conquer the South, bringing back the Old Gods from the brink of death in the areas now controlled by the Seven Pointed Star? Or will you kneel in face of annihilation, like the real Torrhen did? You're the one in command, but be fast, for Winter is Coming and with it, desolation...

EDIT : Damn I didn't know I could be this hammy...

You can't declare war on Wildlings

I've always enjoyed the Rogue Prince scenario but instead of joining in the dance of dragons turn your eyes eastward towards Essos. With the second or third strongest dragon alive you should have a decent chance of carving out your own Empire in Essos. Then make your own Throne and colonize Ny Sar. Its the province to create a Capital to your empire. Also If you look there are several Second sons of the many houses of Westeros that will join you in Essos. Just be careful, the Free cities always want their freedom and rebellions become second nature. This in turn can be useful. I always try to make kingdoms of the merchant republics and give them to someone who is a feudal lord. I've found they are less likely to rebel and easier to keep loyal.

Rhaenyra "The Half-Year Queen" Targaryen, Dance of Dragons bookmark - You start out as the Princess of Dragonstone, with your treasonous brother stealing your birthright as queen. Can you rewrite history and undo the wrongs inflicted on your character, winning the war and having a long, prosperous, and peaceful reign? On top of it all, Dorne is now ripe for another Dragon Conquest...

Actually, someone do this bio more justice, I can't write.
