This will be my first attempt at an AAR. A Newbie ARR. The purpose of the ARR is to showcase my first game*.
The Settings will be:

Grand Campaign
normal/normal/fog on
I will Play as Denmark.

Denmark is chosen since it is my homecountry.
I am not aware whether it is a good idea or not but now it is chosen.

I stated earlier that it was my first game, though I must admit that I took the liberty of starting a few games as a random country just to learn where the menus are and such.
However this is the first game I am counting on playing for more than 3 months og game time.

I have made some ingame goals.

Domestic goals:
Copenhagen Kiel rail-road by 1845
Denmark should have a positive balance by 1855 at the very latest

Foreign affairs
Delay and disrupt any attempt at a unification of Germany.
Alliance with Sweden against Germany.

To night I shall play untill 1845 and my first post will this become online tomorow morning titled: Denmark 1836-1845.

Weeee a danish AAR...

"Held og Lykke" :D

Well I am newbie so perhaps I should go play Pressia instead, that way I will make sure we have nothing 1864.
Well tomorrow still brings first post.
Any thoughts on whether my Goals are too unrealistic or perhaps to easy.

Fine goals... But not easy to disrupt the German unification...!

Well, a surplus in 1855 should be rather easy - I achieved it in 1839 as DK using the lux factories! Also it should be possible to build a railroad to Flensburg without too many problems in the time frame. Preventing the formation of Germany might be a bit tough though :p
btw has anybody ever seen Germany unify almost to its historical boundaries? I've played 3 GC's and not seen it yet...it's always North Ger Fed and stuff like that!

Chapter 1.

Denmark, January of 1836
As I look over my empire I notive several things:

1 the fastest mode of transportation is still the horsedrawn wagon.
In 1836. A disaster. Immediatly the Royal scientist are summoned.
After much bickering they are ordered to focus their reserach on industrial technology that we might one day gain acess to the railroad.

Then it is time to look over the matters of Finance and I see that we are in a bad way.

Ideally all Spendings would be reduced but we cannot let go of public education.
Therefore I demand a slight rise in the taxation of the poor and the middle class and a more substantial raise in taxatin of the rich. The navy is ordered to return to base and defense spending as well as army and naval mantainence is at a minimum.
That is not so good but at the moment no war seems to threaten.
Next we place orders on the world market for various industrial tools and raw materials.
I Ribe a Lumber mill is built.
In mid 1836 we had a slight surplus of 3.0 Pounds at day, but rather immediatly it drops til - 16,3 pounds.
We order the construction of a paper mill which stand finished in 5/3 1838
Around 15/3 1838 we start exporting paper and from here on has a notably surplus of 15.0 pounds´
8/4 1838 we ordered construction of a furniture factory in the fair city of Århus.
by 1840 stagnant economy has caused us to take an unconventional method into consideration. WE open Negotiations with China and after trading our Railroad technologies and various technologies of the previous century we find ourselves with a surplus of 35054 pounds after our debt is paid.
With this amount of cash, it is only a matter of time before the Copenhagen-Kiel Railroad is complete (23/9 1840) and the connection to Ålborg is completed in February 1841.
In march 1841 disaster strikes. The paper market crashes.
Large foreign ventures starts flooding the market with cheap paper and loosing our most important income things look grim indeed.
and when beloved minister Fogh-Rasmussen is assasinated by anarchist rabble the country is laughing stock of Europe.
Our economy is in shambles and our prestige is at an all time low.
But even we can cry out. we shall never say Die1..
A daring plan involving high taxation, lowering of all budgets results in the opening of the following factories: Fabric, Luxury Clothes and regular Clothes, and since Luxury clothes sell for aroundd 234 pounds then by 1843 we can announce a huge boom in the economy. A surplus of 78 pounds and our budget has risen to exceed previous levels, While our taxes are at an all time low.

It is time to go domestic.
The mish-mash of German states to the south is the major threat to Danish supremecy.
We have not the power nor the prestige to tangle there yet. We need to restore our standings in the eyes of world and bolster our army.
Immediatly We plan the greatest Colonial venture ever considered by a scandinavian People: Congo.
Large orders are made on the world market and while these damage our economics soon the first Colonial fortresses Rise in congo.
In these years Søren Kierkegaard publishes, Tivoli opens and Røddng Højskole opens. By 1845 things look bright with all but one province in Congo left unclaimed and our manpower is now positive

I guess it was an assasination with red paint. That's just evil :D

Anyway, nice update. Now your first war against Prussia and Austria is only a few years away-looking forward to that! And good luck with the Congo thingy...but maybe the US grabs it before you do. They have a nasty habit of doing so in my games
:p

Gustav I've delted the thread where you announced this thread

Post is here:

Hello All The first post in "A newbie in Victorias Court is now up.

It didn't went so well posting-wies as I managed to forget taking notes as soon as the game started.

Please reoprt bugs in the bug forum

Well To make my next post short. Preussia annexed me after moving 1.500.000 men into Denmark and in less than 6 months ocuppying me (well technically not annexed but I am left with Godthåb.

´
A new Danish AAR is in the making.
I am currently preparing first chapter and even though it is not ready I will drop a little hint
"Vengeance"
Berlin 1847, 120.000 Danish soldiers, 1848, Prussia and "humiliating peace"

dammed prussians
looking forward to the revenge

Venner, ser på Danmarks kort (4 vers)
Tekst: Chr. Richardt, 1889
Melodi: N. K. Madsen-Stensgaard, 1906

Venner, ser på Danmarks kort
ser, så I det aldrig glemmer,
til hver plet har fået stemmer,
thi det fædreland er vort!
Målt med verden er det lille,
derfor ingen plet at spilde!
Målt med hjertet er det stort,
dér er Danmarks saga gjort!

Venner, ser på Danmarks kort,
ser, så aldrig I det glemmer!
til hver plet har fået stemmer,
klingende snart blødt, snart hårdt!
til I ender med at bede:
skærme Gud vor gamle rede,
skænke os et Danmarks kort,
hvor alt dansk igen er vort!

what dose denmark start with in the grand campaign
what is the army size and what is the navy size......

And is that rediculus part still in the game where a army can walk from jylland to fyn to sjæland? :( .....kinda removes one of Denmarks best means of defence,,,,, you know danish saliors versus prussian/austrian sailors=lots of dead german speaking sailors :D

The Landbridges are still there yes :)

BUT, if a fleet defends the water, then troops cannot cross. Its a compromise to reflect both naval superiority and the fact that crossing them isn't that hard :)

V (The Danish Beta Tester Turned Mod :D)

oh i like the part about not beeing able to cross if there is a navy in the area... the land brigde and the fact that the navy could do nothing to prevent a crossing in EU was somthing that really could piss me of
