A problem with HoI2 from GamersGate

I have just got a copy of Hearts of Iron 2 Complete from GamersGate but it is not working. Whenever I try to open the game it says; "Please install latest milestone". Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am running Windows 7 at the moment and have tried to run it in compatibility mode.

Never mind. The reason Hearts of Iron 2 was not working was simply because I had failed to realise I was only buying Armaggedon... which doesn't work without Doomsday.

Is Armageddon working for you now? I just installed the Hearts of Iron II Complete I bought from GamersGate on my PC and Armageddon won't start and I get the same "Please install latest milestone" error message. :sad:

Try installing Armageddon on top of your Doomsday installation.

Arma is an addon to Doomsday and requires files from it.

I tried that. Twice. And it didn't help.

Edit: When I tried to run Armageddon yet again, it seemed to lock up at the loading screen. Then when I started the Task Manager, I spotted the Critical Error message: --Couldn't open file idb\units\naval_asw.txt--. I ran the installer once again and afterward was able to start and play Armageddon.

Also it is always recommended to install any games outside of the c:\program files area to avoid any file opening issues. Try installing the game in something like c:\games\hoi2dd

You need to reinstall all, see sticky how to do it.

Then install Doomsday, check that it works.
Then install Arma in the same directory as Doomsday

I have done that and it's up and running again...without patches.

Backup your Arma folder before installing it, so you can restore it, if you don't like the betapatch.

Thanks for the information, Gaute65. I backed up Hearts of Iron II, Doomsday, and Armageddon before I ever played them. It made life much easier gaming-wise.
