OOC: This is an AAR of Austria-Hungary in The Great War Mod (Version 1.02) for HoI 1.05c. Apparently, this Mod is still unfinished, but I see very few things that need to be finished...

The Diary of Viktor Frederick Von Heinschull, Personal Secretary to His Imperial Majesty, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, Dominator of Bosnia, Franz Joseph

Entry Date January 1st 1914:

The New Year brought grand celebrations throughout the Capitol of the Dual Monarchy. It also brought a great new hope -- as it always does -- for the coming year. Although, while many hope, His Majesty seems worried.

On December 22nd of the last year, His Majesty held a meeting with his Generals -- Which I of course attended, being his majesty's personal Secretary -- to summarize the threats within and around the Dual Monarchy. While Austria-Hungary is the Second Largest Single Nation on Europe, it's Military is lacking in comparison to that of it's contemporaries. Germany -- Our closest Friend and Ally -- is sizably smaller then the Dual Monarchy, with about the same population, yet their Military is the largest in the world, with 111 Divisions. Austria-Hungary totals only 64 Divisions, the forth largest army on Earth.

These stressful tensions across Europe have worn on his Majesty. It was quite evident at the meeting with his generals, and I am just as worried for his safety and stability as he is about Austria-Hungary's Stability.

Anyway, I'm leading away from the point: Austria-Hungary is not in a very good position. While dominating central Europe, Russia sits on our Eastern Border, and might easily crush us if war comes. Italy -- although our ally -- the Emperor believes is untrustworthy, and may turn on us if War comes. In the Balkans the Dual Monarchy has made many enemies. Our annexation of Bosnia went over terribly with the Serbs, and our occupation of many Romanian lands has left a rift between us and Romania.

I -- And the Emperor -- most certainly fear that if war comes, Austria will either be entirely reliant on our Ally Germany, or we might be dominated.

Austria-Hungary lacks modernization -- Something I must remind the Emperor to speak with his advisors on soon -- and with these new fangled 'Aeroplanes' in the sky, and the massive Dreadnought Battleships dominating the seas, A-H has been left behind in both departments, and some Generals believe both will be deciding factors in a War...

Nevertheless, the obvious Enemy to Austria-Hungary is Russia. And I am happy to say, they also lack Modernization, although with France on their side, we might be in for a two frontal war, which could be Austria-Hungary, and Germany's downfall...

A-H1.jpg

Austria-Hungary, January 1st, 1914. Russia dominates the Eastern Border. In the Balkans, Serbia and Romania sit on Austro-Hungarian Borders, and are might seek to reconqure their lost lands if Austria-Hungary goes to war with Russia...

His Majesty met with his Generals again, this time discussing the Technology available to advance the army. A German Engineer showed his majesty some keen weapons the Germans have developed recently. They included a new Machine Gun, which is outstandingly better than our current one in use. Other things were a new Grenade, and a new mine.

His Majesty immediately invested in buying these weapons from the Germans. Our entire army will be outfitted and equipped with them in about 90 days.

After his Majesty mentioned the lack of communication between troops, the German Engineer suggested we create Bicycle messenger services for our divisions. Apparently, such messengers have greatly increased communication between troops in the German Army. His Majesty thought it over, and is implementing them within the next two months.

At the same meeting, the Navy was reorganized into 3 different Fleets:
The main Fleet based at Split, Commanded by Grand Admiral Huas -- Who was Promoted yesterday to Grand Admiral -- consists of Five Dreadnought Class Battleships, Four Maria Theresa Class Pre-Dreadnought Battleships (Cruisers), Two Destroyers, and our only Underwater Ship.

The Secondary Fleet based at Split, Commanded by Grand Admiral Archduke Karl Stefan consists of Five Dreadnought Class Battleships, Five Maria Theresa Class Pre-Dreadnought Battleships, and Two Destroyers.

The Third Fleet also based at Split, Commanded by Admiral Chlemarz consists of Four Dreadnought Class Battleships, Two Maria Theresa Pre-Dreadnought Class Battleships, and Two Destroyers.

Our Navy is Large -- 34 Ships! -- but is only 8th largest in the world. It wouldn't stand a chance against pretty much any of our European Contemporaries...

Naval Comparison:
Britain: 223
Germany: 118
United States: 81
France: 69
Japan: 48
Italy: 38
Russia: 36
Austria-Hungary: 34

While on the Topic of Navy's, apparently the Ottoman Empire has bought the Rio De Janeiro Dreadnought Class Battleship from Brazil. This has created quite a stir in the British Royal Navy, which obviously do not want another European Nation becoming a Naval Power in the Mediterranean...

Aww, what a wonderful vacation! I went on vacation to the Swiss Alps, and I must say, it was quite relaxing having 5 months away from diplomatic affairs. Although the Emperor seems rather perturbed about things -- or so I've been told by another of his aides -- recently.

Well, I noticed I forgot to take my diary with me after I arrived in Geneva. Oh well, not much happened while I was away anyway.

Russia removed Rasputin from Power in late February. I hear this "Rasputin" is a Siberian "Mystic" who was helping the Romanav family overcome some illness. I wonder what this illness could be? I haven't heard of any of the Romanav's being ill...

Well, on April 4th, the United States took hold of Veracruz Mexico. I'm not clear on the details, but it probably has something to do with that Socialist Revolt currently happening in the country.

Incidentally, the Mexican Government has begun to win that Revolution. They've almost recaptured the Revolutionary Capitol in an offensive last week.

Well, that's about all the news... If this calm continues, I think 1914 could very well be a very peaceful year indeed...

Those horrid Serbs! They've killed the Heir to the throne of our mighty nation, and his wife! This is... This is... I cannot even speak of it! My contempt for those Serbian infidels brings me to the point where I cannot even speak!

His Majesty has locked himself in his room. I don't think he is mourning his nephew's death, but distraught over his bad luck with an Heir:

His Majesty only had one son, Rudolph, Who committed Suicide in 1889. It was claimed by many that the Crown Prince was killed either at the behest of Austrian security officials for his suspected pro-Hungarian sympathies or by French agents because he refused to participate in the deposition of his pro-German father. No evidence has been discovered to prove either of these theories, though an examination of the remains of Marie Vetsera -- His Mistress, who was found dead with him -- contradicted the official reports that she had been shot; her skull showed no evidence of bullet wounds or shrapnel. Instead the evidence was that she had been beaten to death... However, no government official wants to admit this, so I have many doubts about how truthful they are being...

Franz Ferdinand was the Nephew of the Emperor. Although Franz Joseph had four children, three of them were girls, and the Hapsburg Throne has never been held by a woman, and therefor they cannot inherit it.

Now the only possible choice for heir is Karl, the son of Otto Franz Joseph, the Emperor's younger brother. Karl is also younger brother to the now deceased Franz Ferdinand...

Those horrid Serbs, this travesty must be revenged! Franz Ferdinand's death must not go without revenge!

Germany has pledged they will support us unconditionally, no matter what action we take. And with that backing, we have composed an Ultimatum to be sent to the Serbian Government.

I was taking notes while His Majesty and his Ministers composed the Ultimatum. It's quite... Well, insane. The Serbian Government will never accept such terms... Perhaps the Ultimatum was not meant to be accepted, and perhaps is just being created to give us a reason to go to war... That's treason to think such things!

Entry Date July 25th 1914

Oh good lord... So much has happened today... War! Can you believe it? War!

Well, I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets start from the beginning...

At about 3 AM this morning, Serbia rejected the Ultimatum after confirming that Russia would guarantee their sovereignty.

At 5 AM, the Emperor was awoken and told of the rejection. He immediately ordered a declaration of War.

At 5:30 AM, we declared War on Serbia

At 9 AM, the German Chancellery decided to stand by their word to support us, and declared war on Serbia. Soon after, the Italian Parliament decided to do the same.

At Noon, Russia mobilized it's army, and Threatened war on Austria-Hungary if they did not withdraw their declaration of Serbia IMMEDIATELY. We refused, and Russia Declared war on the Dual Monarchy.

At 1 PM, Germany took the Russian Mobilization as a threat, and further supporting us as their ally, declared war on Russia.

At 3 PM France announced their pact with Russia would be respected, and they mobilized their army. Instantly, the Germans declared war on the Third Republic.

At 4 PM Italy Declared war both on Russia and France in support of their allies.

At 6 PM Montenegro mobilized their army, and declared they would fight with their fellow Slavs.

It is shocking. My nerves are tense. I don't know whether to doubt this war, or to embrace it. It seems foolhardy. Yet at the same time, I'm also filled with Nationalistic Pride... The bells from the Cathedrals have been ringing for hours now, coupled with the yells from the citizens in the streets, it's making Vienna a constant loud racket, from which my ears will never recover.

Nevertheless, the fastness of this war, and the almost instantaneous declarations make me quite shocked...

OOC: I know the war actually took until Mid-August to really fully be declared and such, but the game does it all instantaneously, so I had to right it in like that...

Our war plans have been drawn up! Well, technically, they were days ago... But anyway. We will invade Serbia in Four stages, all while maintaining a defense on the Russian Border.

A-H2.jpg

The Dark Blue represents the first stage.
The Pink represents the second stage.
The Green the third stage.
The Gray the forth stage.
Then all troops will be moved to the Russian Border.

Entry Date July 29th 1914

This war has set off alarm bells all over Europe. Navy's and Army's all across the Continant have been mobilized. The German High Seas Fleets entered combat with the French 3rd Fleet on the first day of the war off the coast of Hamburg. The Sea battle is still raging, but as soon as England mobilizes and organizes her fleet, I think Germany may back down. England is not a nation we want as an enemy right now.

Germany also dropped the Schiefllien plan, and decided to attack Russia first. Our commanders are hoping that a swift victory over Serbia will bring Russia and France to peace anyway...

Later Entry on July 29th 1914

Those traitors! We were so good to those scum of the earth traitors, and they betrayed us! Italy has left the Central Powers, and declared Neutrality! We never should have trusted those Italians, they're good for nothing! Now all of France's armed forces can focus on Germany. And now we have to get an army on the Italian Border, for it's only a matter of time before those greedy traitors decide to attack us for their own gain!

The war is looking bad already. With France and Russia Mobilized, the Russian Army totals 116 divisions, and France 96. Germany only has 117, and we have but 67, half of which is concentrated on Italy, Romania, and Serbia's borders... Serbia -- although they really don't matter -- has 6 divisions, they will be defeated but us quickly, but the Russians are another story... I am seriously having doubts about this war... The Treacherous Italians have 44 divisions, which worries me even further...

Even Later Entry date on July 29th 1914

Oh good lord... Britain has declared war on the Central Powers! Oh good lord... The British fleet doubles the German fleet, and their ability to blockade us will certainly cause Economic failure... Oh good lord, this is a most horrifying event!

The battle between the French and German Fleets in the southern North Sea will now almost certainly be a German defeat, with the British Home Fleet quickly sailing towards it. The battle currently consists of 62 German Ships, and 25 French. Only 1 French Ship has been sunk, and many more are quite damaged...

Entry Date July 30th

The enemies keep stacking up: Japan has declared war on Germany, and thus on us as well... Oh this is becoming a statistical nightmare! Now Germany has to focus some of their troops in their island colonies, for Japan will surely invade them...

More Naval Battles broke out: Off Portugal, 14 German Ships easily defeated 6 British Ships. In the West Bay of Biscay, 6 German Ships met 4 British ships, and are winning. Both fleets were moving back towards Germany, now they will have to go around England, for I doubt they'll survive going through the English Channel.

I suppose our fleet will be mobilized soon, to counter the British Mediterranean Fleet...

This war with Britain may claim Germany's overseas Colonies very soon...

Entry Date August 2nd 1914

Fighting has begun in Belgrade (Beograd). The city's Militia, an Infantry Division, and a Cavalry Division are defending the city. In charge of defense of the city is Field Marshal Putnik, the highest ranking officer in the Serbian Army. Leading our force of 3 Infantry Divisions, 2 Militia Divisions, and a Cavalry division is General von Rhemen, a man I have never met personally, but a man with an impressive record. He could be our next Field Marshal if he conducts this attack properly.

Entry Date August 3rd 1914

Shockingly, Romania entered the Central Powers! I'm utterly shocked! Really, I am! I presumed them as our next enemy! Now we can move the 12 divisions we have defending our border with them to elsewhere. This is a great turn of events!

However to keep them from invading Serbia, and conquering what should rightfully go to us, General von Brlog has already commenced his part of the second stage, and is marching onto Nis with 4 Infantry Divisions. I know it's risky: If we do not successfully take Belgrade, Von Brlog will be outflanked!

The Naval Battles have continued: The Germans beat the British in the West Bay of Biscay, but 12 French Ships have come to help beat the 14 German Ships off Portugal. 4 More German Ships have sailed around Scotland to come help. Meanwhile, 12 more German ships joined the battle in the Southern North Sea. It now totals 74 German Ships 25 French. the French ships cannot hold out much longer, I'm certain of it!

Entry Date August 5th 1914

The Russians have attacked Lwow with 32 Divisions! Lwow was being fortified, but it's fortifications have not been completed yet. We only have 10 divisions in Lwow -- Most of them Cavalry -- and if they fail, well, the entirety of Hungary is in Danger!

A-H3.png

(Heavy Fighting in Lwow and Beograd, The Romanians Marching on Chisinau)

Meanwhile, the Romanians are marching on Chisinau. And the rest of our First Stage attack on Serbia is gearing into action, marching onto Valjevo, Kraljevo, and Podgorica.

The Naval battle in the North Sea ceased with an overwhelming German Victory. However, it was short lived. As German ships took up defensive postures along the German Coast, 145 British Ships sailed in, and are utterly humiliating the 78 German ships in the area. Loss after loss is occurring in just a few hours.

A-H4.png

(British navy humiliates Germans)

Entry Date August 6th 1914

The Russians have taken Lwow! The Garrison in the city was overwhelmed and had to retreat to Przemysl. This has destroyed our entire strategy! We expected the Russians to sit quietly, maybe attack East Prussia, but not attack us! We now have a huge open border from which the Russians can sweep through Hungary! The men along the Romanian border have been called up to the open border, but wont be there until the 15th of this month! The Generals and Ministers here in the Capitol are in panic. Some predict Cossacks will be marching through Vienna within the month, and although that's a bit far fetched, I think the could be a Budapest by that time... Lets hope Przemysl holds...

In better news, Belgrade has been taken. The city's militia was entirely destroyed, and Field Marshal Putnik had to retreat to Nis. The army which has taken Belgrade is chasing after Putnik towards Nis. Despite capturing the Capitol, we know the Serbians wont surrender for a long while yet...

OOC: Austrian Troops have 57 Org, and Russians 30-ish, but their sheer numbers are just overwhelming!

Greece has announced Neutrality. This surprised me, because the King's wife is a Hohenzollern, which is the royal house of Prussia, and she is directly related to the Kaiser of Germany. I think that relation is the only reason Romania joined with us in Alliance, a Hohenzollern sits on the throne in Bucharest. Well, Greece is on the verge of Civil War, and I suppose getting caught up in a large war would weaken their monarchy. I'm just glad they're aren't against us, even if they aren't with us!

Entry Date August 9th 1914

The 2nd Cavalry Divisions arrived in Przemysl. They were fleeing Lwow. Although not one division was lost at Lwow, the 2nd Cavalry is in utter despair. They tell me each division in the army suffered at least a 90% casualty rate! (They had 90% of their organization destroyed) General Dankl von Krasnik -- Commander of the 2nd Cavalry -- was nearly killed himself I hear. He will be left in command, and all blame for the retreat was lifted from him.

The 2nd Fleet has been put on full alert, and sent to the Eastern Adriatic. This is to keep the British from sending aid or troops to the Serbs.

Speaking of Serbia, General von Brlog has reached Nis. It's defended by an Infantry Corps, and a badly trained Cavalry Corps. The Cavalry was nearly destroyed the moment von Brlog's troops reached Nis. If we capture Nis, Putnik's retreat will be cut off, and he will be captured!

The Italians have started to build up on our Alpine Border... I don't trust them...

Entry Date August 10th 1914

The Romanians have taken Chisinau, causing the Russian Cavalry in Lwow to double back to protect their southern Flank. They have left Lwow mostly undefended. We might be able to retake the city!

However, General von Hauer made it to Przemysl with the last of the Retreating Infantry. He advised that we not attack so quickly. He believes the Russian Cavalry will slaughter the Romanians, and then our southern flank will be exposed...

Putnik reached Nis before we could cut off his escape route, but Nis is on the verge of collapse anyway. Putnik's army from Belgrade is devastated, and they are not helping the Serbian defense of Nis.

Entry Date August 11th 1914

The Advance has reached Kraljevo and Valjevo. Valjevo has become the secondary capitol of Serbia, and the Government moved there from Belgrade. In charge of Valjevo defense is General Misic, the second in command of the Serb Army. Despite his experience and rank, we will probably take the city within a few days. Kraljevo will fall in a matter of hours.

Entry Date August 12th 1914

Montenegro Fell today. The tiny country didn't even mobilize their army yet, and their capitol was seized without even a shot fired. Looks like Franz Josef has another title added to his name: Dominator of Montenegro.

Almost the entire German Navy has retreated to port. The British humiliation of Germany sent at least 5 German ships to the bottom.

The French have attacked Colmar, which is defended by about 165,000 men. The Defense is mainly Infantry and cavalry. The French are attacking with 265,000 men, mostly infantry and Militia. I think Colmar will hold...

The British have taken a huge part of German East Africa. I don't think Germany's oversea Colonies will hold much longer, the British are mobilizing quite quickly across the globe...

Von Rhemen reached Nis. The defenses there will completely collapse soon...

Entry Date August 13th 1914

Outrageous! The British seized a Turk Battleship! I'm not clear on the details, but this will certainly damage relations between the Ottoman Turks and the British. What are they thinking?

Entry Date August 16th 1914

Good lord, the British seized two more Turk Battleships! This is causing havoc in the Ottoman Empire. There is talk the Turks will go to war with Britain. Do the British want war with the Turks? Why are they provoking them so?

We had to retreat from Valjevo. Misic just proved too great a strategist, despite our superior numbers, we just couldn't touch the heavily fortified city...

The Germans have advanced into the Baltic Region, seizing the cities of Siauliai and Kaunas. This has breached the Russian lines and is causing the Russians to pull back some men from Poland.

A-H5.png

(The strange volleying on our Eastern Front. What exactly are the Russians doing?)

Entry Date August 18th 1914

That Misic... while we retreated from Valjevo, he quickly recaptured undefended Belgrade... Well, now Valjevo is undefended, and we can surround him in a pocket.

Entry Date August 20th 1914

Misic broke through at Belgrade, and now has invaded Hungary. The Romanian Cavalry in the western part of their country is rushing in to help, although the Emperor has expressed his disgust that we're relying on Romanians for help.

A-H6.png

Looks great :D

I may have to try this mod after all.

BTW: Italy first DoW'd France and Russia, then declared neutrality? What reprocussions happen for a country that does that?

Doc said:
BTW: Italy first DoW'd France and Russia, then declared neutrality? What reprocussions happen for a country that does that?

I know... It's a bug in the game, and I just kinda wrote it into my AAR accidentaly.

In real life,I taly was part of the Central Powers when War started between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Then Russia Mobilized against A-H, causing Germany to mobilize against Russia, causing France to Mobilize against Germany, causing various other countries to mobilize. Europe sat there for a week, waiting, then Germany Declared War on Russia, causing the declarations of war to spring one after another. Italy did not want to lose it's Africa Colonies, nor did it want to fight France, so it left the Central Powers as War was being declared between one nation after another.

However, HoI handles being Allied differntly: If your ally goes to war, you do instantly, not by your choice. So, the bug happens that everybody declared war at once, including Italy, but then Italy has the option to back out. Italy backed out in my game, and became neutral, and France and Russia's war with Italy vanished into thin air, and all was well.

Oh well...

I'll update Tomorrow!

This is definitely edge of the seat reading, very entertaining from this perspective.

Thanks for being the first to write a non team member AAR!

However I must warn you, there are huge bugs associated with independence events - I dont think you'll let Austria lose :) so you wont have to worry about the fall of Austria event.

EDIT: There is now a way to fix these independence crashes.
http://gwalcmai.planetaclix.pt/light_aircraft_tech.txt
That should be your light_aircraft_tech.txt in db/tech.
The one that came with the mod is currently incorrect.

There is also the Treaty of Brest Litovsk which is sometimes crashy.
I guarantee you that the November Revolution will crash the game because many countries declare independence.

So - in the interest of Absolute Monarchy, you cannot let those Reds succeed! You must bring the Tsar to his knees before Revolution strikes in Russia! The cities you should aim to capture are Leningrad/Petrograd, Moscow, and Kiev to get them to make peace.

Oh and watch out for Italy - those traitorous bastards will side with the Entente in early 1915! Unless, of course, you are willing to make some major concessions.....

Once again thank you for the interest!

Sorry if anyone's computer's had trouble loading this. I used small pictures!

OOC:I haven't played Great War mod but I found it intersting to only see forts on the borders. When I made my own WWIesque scenerio I made level 5 forst all through northern France, Germany, and all Belgium, and Netherlands. So it would be a slow movement throught enemy trenches not breaking through front lines and just driving through. I know this probably isn't the place. So back on topic.

Can't wait for next update. and lots o' screenies

The German Ambassador alerted his Majesty to Secret Turkish Negotiations with Germany today... If the Turks enter the war, Britain and France's Northern African Colonies will be in danger of collapse, which will divert troops from France's border with Germany. And Russia will have to divert troops to Armenia. It seems a good proposition, but it also seems so forbidding... The Turks have been our sworn enemy for centuries. Austria and Hungary both kept the Turks just barely from overrunning Central Europe since about 1400 - 1700... And we -- Along with Russia -- have been slowly pushing the Turks out of the Balkans through the past century... It just seems strange to ally to our main historical enemy... But, this war is proving that old vendettas along with old friends mean nothing: France's single most hated nation and rival throughout France's History was England, and now they are allied together. And who we thought was a Friend, Italy, betrayed us, dishonored and spit on our Alliance and Friendship...

Well, this possible Alliance with the Turks is a good thing, I suppose...

The German Mediterranean Fleet -- Based with our Fleets in Split -- has been lent to the Turks, apparently as part of the Negotiations. The German Fleet quickly, and at great risk ran through the British Blockade at Crete and made it to Constantanople.

In actual news -- and not just possible 'might happen' -- The Germans attempted to invade Suwalki Poland. I say attempted, because the attack quickly collapsed as the Russian Cavalry rushed in and beat back to German Infantry. The Germans -- I believe -- have a plan to cut off Poland from Russia -- Or at least cut off it's railroads and major supply routes. Poland has the largest concentration of Russian troops of their border with us and Germany, and the fact that Poland is surrounded on three sides by Prussia, East Prussia, and Austrian Galicia makes it a very hard place to defend for Russia. If the Germans can cut it off from Russian Supply, and the huge Russian Army unable to retreat back to a defensive line, the Russians will be brought to the Negotiations table quite quickly indeed.

Also on the Russian Front, the Romanians retreated from occupied Beltsy. The Romanians only occupied it last week. The counterattack to liberate Chisinua by the Russians continues and the Romanians seem to be losing their hold on the strategic city. If the Romanians collapse, our entire southern border is threatened...

Entry Date August 23rd 1914

Nis has been taken! Despite being surrounded -- due to that Horrid Misic's breakthrough at Belgrade! -- the troops of von Brlog and von Rhemen finally took Nis. Putnik's army -- or the dregs of what's left of it -- is retreating towards Valjevo, probably to secure the line there. However, because Nis was in a pocket, connected by supply only through Romania, Nis has been given to Romania... I blame Misic, that infidel had to break through at Belgrade... Well, a couple of infantry divisions has taken undefended Novi Pasar. Now Southern Serbia is undefended, and cut off. Serbia is being overrun, it should only be a few days now until their total defeat! Even though Misic is running amuck in Arad Hungary...

Entry Date August 26th 1914

Valjevo was taken, and Putnik had to quickly turn north to Belgrade. This has left the Army under Bozanovic in Kraljevo surrounded, and has degraded his army severely. Belgrade is now the most heavily defended are in Serbia, but with only 3 divisions, you can't call it really fortified. Our army is marching through southern Serbia, and the nation's links with Britain, France and Russia through neutral Bulgaria, Albania and Greece will soon be totally cut.

In Vienna, the King of Montenegro formally signed an unconditional surrender of his country. His country was taken without even a battle several weeks ago. Montenegro will be annexed into Austria-Hungary, but our Constitution will not apply to the citizens of Montenegro until after this war is over.

Russia's massive numbers are becoming a problem. Romania, with their 15 divisions are no match for the Russia Army. Even our Army is having trouble holding their lines. In Occupied Lwow, the Russians have massed 30 Divisions. That's about half our total army, in one border city! Indeed, Russia's mighty numbers even overwhelm our mighty ally Germany. Despite their better tactics, and equipment, the Germans have only succeeded in two out of nine attacks on the Russian Front. The unbelievable numbers are scaring many of our Generals: If Russia attacks anywhere on our border, besides Przemysl, will be forced into a retreat easily. Lets just hope the Germans keep the pressure on Russia...

Entry Date August 27th 1914

After running amuck in Arad, Misic attacked Debrecen... And now the Serb is actually marching towards Budapest! BUDAPEST! Our interior is largely undefended... This includes Budapest, and everything else Misic attacked... But is he insane? His nation has lost, what is he trying to accomplish!?

Entry Date August 30th 1914

We have completely conquered Southern Serbia. All that remains is the pocket at Kraljevo, Belgrade, and what Misic had insanely taken from us in his hopeless campaign.

Ack... This has been a most frustrating month, and it's only in it's first day! The French over the past three days overran Colmar and Frieburg! Meanwhile, in the middle of the night last night, British Squadrons came ashore at Hamburg and Rostock! AND the Russians Occupied Iasi, Romania! Ugh, if this month continues the way it's going, the war will end with the British, French, and Russian Red, White and Blue flags flying over the Berlin and Vienna within a week!

Meh, Hamburg is well defended, but the British took Rostok without competition... This is most annoying...
