Nice start. :)

"And so it begins." - Another Babylon 5 fan, aren't we? ;)

lol, great work.
poor von paulus :D

Very good AAR. I had to break out my WWII Biographical dictionary to read up more on Manstein, Manteuffel, and Witzleben. Whenever you make the reader do extra work in your writing then you must be off toa good start.:D

thanks for the comments guys :)

Steve, I dont think angelfire or any other free web based homepages allow external linkage from bulletin boards like this one. It would be great if you could host a couple of .jpgs.

I have decided to adopt two house rules in my aar.

1) Fog of war off during peace time. This to reflect that there are still alot of tourists (or agents) traveling around the world. It seems weird that I should not be able to know where the French have their army corps stationed in 1936 for example.

2) When Im at war with either two nations of these three UK, US, USSR, I will cancel all my deals on the world market. It seems weird that Germany should be able to buy oil and rubber on the world market. I will have to secure oil and rubber through trade agreements (and convoy chains...should be interesting) or by occupying provinces.

Great AAR. And BTW, you drive me crazy. I bought the game yesterday, and am now sitting at work unable to think about anything but getting home and have another go at world domination as bad boy Germany.

Keep it up! :)

Hmmm

Yeah, that's good stuff! Keep it up! Herr Major! ;)

I'd like to add my 'attaboy to the comments :D

Wether by accident or literary design, the narrator is introduced to the Nazi Party the same way as Hitler was, by being assigned to keep a meeting from sparking violence. A very effective begining!

Brilliant ! I'l really looking forward to your next chapter. I recently finished rereading both Guderian's Achtung Panzer! and Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich so this kind of character based AAR is great fun.

Cheers,
H.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. Its a slow day at work, so I should probably be able to get the next chapter online in a couple of hours. And I finally managed to find out how to use my homepage, so soon the story will be littered with screenshots too :)

I just wanted to say that this is an excellent and very well-written AAR. It sounds so real - it is very easy to see all of this actually happening, in terms of dialogue, situations, etc. I can't wait for more updates!

Thanks, it is comments like that that makes it so rewarding to write these aar:s :)

Anyway, things should get really exciting soon, the next chapter will cover the spanish civil war and the German Condor Legion.

Just adding my voice to others - This is without doubt a very well written aar. More like good historical fiction actually, with excellent dialogue and character driven storyline.

Keep em coming, I need stuff like this to stop me going slowly crazy while I wait for hoI to reach the distant shores of Britain.

Sorry about the delay getting the next chapter up here. The next chapter is about the Spanish civil war and the German involvement there, and its a kinda huge chapter with alot of screenshots.

To make things even worse, I have alot to do at work, and I probably wont be able to take some time off for aar writing until Friday.

But I promise you an interesting next chapter :)
