For those of you who enjoy reading/hearing about WWII heroes, I have created a Facebook group (link given below). The information and many pictures on that page tell about my father-in-law's (Robert Sweatt) crew of the B-24 Liberator nicknamed "Trouble". They flew 16 "credited" missions in the European Theatre of Operations. On their 17th mission, Egon Mayer (a German Ace) shot down Trouble. Multiple miracles happened that day which saved Robert's life. Robert was the only survivor from Trouble and his journey through France included a stop at "The House of Alphonse" which is a famous safe house in the Shelburne Escape Line.
I have listened to the story most of my life and finally decided that I must share it with others so I decided to publish a book titled "Trouble" and create the Facebook page for those who were interested in it. I was fortunate to make contact with some French people who added their perspective and research. I spent approximately three and a half years confirming all that I could and re-writing the story to fill in as many gaps as I could. Many of the facts are supported by multiple sources.
I want people to remember the names of the crew and understand the courage they had to face such dangers repeatedly. There were good times as well and they shared laughter often during their training and early missions. This is ONE story that has been preserved. There are thousands of others that we have already lost.
If you want more information, please send me a message.
