Suggestions

Some of you might have some ideas for the forum. I have exhausted some of my ideas as you can see the stickies and changes. Let me know if you have an idea for the forum. A Poll, an idea for a stickey discussion, an idea for an AAR, just any idea.

Be sure to contact Gen Suvorov for any screenshot needs as he has a way for anyone to post their AAR screenshots. His websight is at www.systemvoid.com/eu/
be sure to thank him for the help he has given AAR writers also :) he doesnt get payed for his efforts, then again none of us do:D

Ok i look forward to everyones ideas and thoughts, remember when you read an AAR, ENJOY!:)

I don't know why you try so hard - it's good aars that make this forum look good - not some polls or sticky threads.

Ok, why do i get the feeling my recent additions to the AAR thread are unwelcome????:p Anyone else not like the polls and AAR special stickies? this is a suggestion box, let me know what works best, this is our AAR forum, not mine, so let me know what works and doesnt work.

Thanks

PS: I love this forum and the AARs in it, so i will continue to try hard to make it better in my own way until i get suggestions from you all, (TAKE A LOOK AT ALL THE TALENT ON THIS FORUM, THEN ASK WHY I TRY SO HARD);)

Yes, I also do not like stickies and polls. They are simply not appropriate for the AAR forum. Sorry, nothing personal. ;)

Hey, i like the polls. Shows effort and a change of tac, i can vote for something to do with AARS, which is nice.

The Blast from the Past is a great idea, but probab;y woefully under-used (i haven't checked it out) and the featured Sticky is a great way of emphasising those lesser known AARs. So keep up the good work Warspite, I appreciate it. :)

Do whatever you want, warspite. I think that, while essentially unnecessary, the stickies and polls can only add to the forum; after all, you can just ignore them :D

Seriously, tho, stop sucking up to us, you're the one who has the best aar on here (in my opinion) and the moderator. Give yourself some credit!

I agree with Rictus on the feature aar segment. Blast from the Past is a good idea, except that it's hard to get interested in an aar in which you have to plow thru several pages to get to the beginning (that's why I'm not reading any of Ariel's famous aars. And if the Italy aar hadn't been on top of the list when I first looked at the forum, I wouldn't have done that one either. Probably still wouldn't have if I'd known how many pages it would take to catch up...).

I must add my voice to those who think you're doing a great job, warspite. I like a little 'mixin' it up' too. In fact, you might consider making any AAR which has had over 100 posts (or 400 views, whatever) 'sticky', so that that AAR won't get lost and have to be 'bumped' up to stay visible.

Oh yeah, and warspite.... don't work yourself into an early grave, and don't stress too much, ok? I'd like to see you get some enjoyment out of this whole affair... ;)

Sitcky AARs is not such a bad idea, but all these polls and stuff. Imho they really belong to some other forum, and only spoil the view. But i like that Blast from the past idea :)

I agree that sticky aars are alright and the blast from the past is great but the polls and other stickys are a little worrying. I now have to scan down the list to find your Italy aar and that's a pain.;) Seriously keep the number of stickys to as few as you can. thnaks for the effort.

thank you very much for your suggestions all, i have unstuck this thread (BUT STILL MAKE SUGGESTIONS IF YOU LIKE, ILL READ THEM) also i have unstuck one of the polls as it is not too popular. I personally think the poll about favorite type of aar is perfect though and will remain a sticky.

thanks again all.

I think the best suggestion for this forum is for people to write more AARs. Of course everyone wants to write an original AAR and they are looking for countries for which no AAR was written. If you're such a person I have great news for you. Now you can write AARs for a few new nations that are created for a 1448 Second Byzantine Saga scenario. You can get the scenario at http://byzantine.systemvoid.com
play it a few times and write an original AAR for the following countries:

Byzantine Empire, Bosnia, Albania, Duchy of Athens, Kingdom of Cyprus, Trebizond Empire, Duchy of Tver, and
Timurid Empire.

In addition, our scenario has leaders and monarchs for Aragon and Burgndy so you can write good AARs for them too.

For further questions please go to Scenario forum and ask them on the "Second Byzantine Empire support" thread. Thanks.

Youre efforts are noted even if we don't always say thank you nicely.

I think though, on balance, that many of the comments mentioned are quite valid although the point of looking down the thread for existing AAR's is not so critical if the AAR is kept alive. The danger is that too many AAR's will die because they are forgotten and, as many people realise, when an AAR fails to get any further responses it's liable to die prematurely. Maybe this could be put down to survival of the fittest but I've seen so many original AAR's started and then not finished that I feel we ought to do a little more to help a few more of them stay around.

btw. How about using links to tie in several stickies into just the one sticky thread? Wouldn't that solve the problem?

You are doing a great job Warspite. I don't mind the sticky posts. Just don't get too many going at once. I think people can deal with one or two lines of sticky threads or polls, just not alot to clog the top of the list.

I don't mind polls being in here as long as they are AAR related. I really don't even check out the Poll thread that is on the rest of the board.

Greetings old friend

I humble myself before thy Excellency, KING OF AARLAND.

Warspite,
Just stopped by to give you a hearty congrats on your promotion...I think that you are doing an amazing job at a very difficult forum!
