Hi

I have this Duke of Magonsaete as my tributary, as a sneaky backstabbing bastard I have forged a claim to his title and I would like to back stab and take his land. Unfortunately I do not have the Declare War option now - I assume that's because of him being my tributary. I would like to release him to open the avenue of backstabbing.

Is it possible to add this option in the future?

Thanks

While I don't know how to make a decision to release tributary, it's quite easy to allow attacking your tributaries, and to limit it only to specified Casus Beli. If you wish to use your Claim against him, just open documents/mod/CK2+/common/cb_types and open the 00_cb_types txt file, and just change the "no" in "allowed_to_target_tributaries = no" to a "yes"
Here's how the file looks, just in case you've never done it before:
claim = {
name = CB_NAME_CLAIM
war_name = WAR_NAME_CLAIM
sprite = 1
truce_days = 3650
hostile_against_others = yes
can_ask_to_join_war = no

allowed_to_target_tributaries = no
allowed_to_target_suzerains = no
Please write if you can't understand something or something is confusing, English isn't my main language so I might be a bit incomprehensible at times

It's something we'll consider anyways for using certain CBs on tributaries. It'd have to come with some nasty consequences though like making your other tributaries really leery about you and probably lower other ruler's opinion of you etc.

That would work but in this case, the dude had only one county, when I take his land, he will become a nobody and die in a few minutes.
This being the case, I helped him - cut his suffering short with a "kill <charID>". Then I attacked and took what's rightfully mine.

I hope this comes to CK2Plus as a built-in though, I'm happy to pay the consequences zeress mentioned above.

Tributaries are a huge bonus though, being able to enslave whole kingdoms to your will (even as Christian, feudal rulers apparently, for whom it is an extremely immersion-breaking choice) and make them help you with their full forces is a very powerful option and I consider it a fair counterbalance (even if perhaps not quite realistic, once again) that you aren't allowed to fight your tributaries. There should be really punitive consequences if attacking tributaries becomes a possibility.

Yeah, if you attack your own tributary it should a) release all your other tributaries immediately, and b) you shouldn't be able to gain more. The whole idea behind a tributary is "I pay you, and you don't attack me", not "you sit there and mind your business until I'm ready to attack you". If your realm violates that rule, there's not a single reason why any other ruler should think that a tribute relationship with your realm is worth a damn.
