We're not planning any additional start dates right now. That may change in the future of course, but there's a strong internal bias against earlier start dates in particular.
Relative lack of reliable records and the time period being generally unsuited to our mechanics are the big ones. Start dates in general are a huge pain to make and maintain, since they're effectively alternate worldstates that have to be manually kept up to date for the rest of the game's lifespan.
There has been a narrative that a large segment of players would play somewhat exclusively the earliest start date in a Crusader Kings game. With the dev response, I do wonder if this narrative is greatly exaggerated.
Only slightly exaggerated. There's not an overwhelming majority of players that only ever play the earliest date, but it's a significantly larger amount than the others; even larger if you discount people playing the tutorial in 1066.
