Something I don't understand ( mainly because I didn't tried to translate this part of the german manual): what's the difference between historical or not events options?

I'm not really sure, that I understand your question, but here's an answer anyway :)

When you turn historical events off, they just won't happen. So I guess there will be no Dutch declaration of independence etc. Just a guess.

But What about the both historical and random events option?

Random events is easy. I know that one! :)

Some examples of random events are:

Random loss of ships - even when in harbour.
Random loss of manufacturies due to fire. I HATE this one ;)
Random desertions
Random ekstra fleet or army
Random building of fortifications or manufacturies.

There are heaps of others, but I'm sure you got the general picture.

Holger

BTW: will there be a french version of EU?

There are 3 types of events.

Hard-Coded ones which will always happen ie Lutheranism/Reformation.

Historical-These are events that actually happened ie Strikes/Plagues,but usually have relatively minor effects.

Random-Just what it says

THe option on/off covers the latter 2 the first type will always happen.

The latter 2 include:-
Gifts of money
Increased Fortifications
Conquistadors/Explorers
Plagues
Stability bonus/reduction
Tech bonus/reduction.
Increases/Reductions in Diplomatic relations.

I don't know. And I don't care of too: I'm now at ease with german version, I will get English version in a few months. A benelux version is about to be released by Blackstar so maybe a french version will be included.

About the French distributors, what can I say is I prefer since some years to buy directly in English: a bad translation is worse than playing in English, manual is generally incompletely translated and last, patches aren't translated in most cases.

The Historical Events are:

1. The Refermation
2. Jean Calvin
3. The Treaty of Tordesillas
4. The Treaty of Trent
5. The Treaty of Conciliation
6. The Closing of Japan

They are historical because they always happen.

In my latest game I noticed, that Japan doesn´t get any money from it´s own cot, where it has a monopoly (I don´t know now, what the cot is exactly worth, but it´s worth at least over 100 and the trade level of Japan is quite o.k.) Is this a bug or does this have something to do with Japan´s 'closing'?

French distributors used to make the translation a crappy thing and their favorite pasttime is to greatly reduce any manual.

Thanks to Ubisoft to have released the french version of TOAW with a manual of 34 pages, including the install instructions and credits.

As it's a common thing with french versions, I'm now used to buy original versions of games.
