As the player, I am annoyed that I cannot simply tell an army to move around deep in my own territory, check back in a month, and find that only six of the original ten thousand remain, because they decided to cross some mountains in winter.

Commander, I told you to go from here, to there. You knew it was winter in the mountains. Why did you do this?

Meanwhile, the pathfinding is of course super vigilant about not crossing into neutral independent territory when being told to pathfind, and they need to be manually pathed to do so, as they will otherwise take a winding route to stay within an imaginary political border.

Could they please be so vigilant about pathing through attrition zones, such that I have to override their natural inclination to get them to do so?

Furthermore, it would be nice if, while inspecting an army's movement orders, a little red skull icon would appear over provinces that they are ordered to move through, but which does not have enough supply for them, or which will not have enough supply for them by the time they are projected to arrive there with even the most optimistic predictions of winter weather. A yellow skull could be used to indicate provinces which may not have enough supply for them with the worst case of weather predictions.

While the player suffers from this, it seems to me that the AI suffers more. Invading Arabia from Byzantium with maximum cheese strategies involves simply inducing their army to walk back and forth through the deserts of North Africa to relieve sieges from fleet-bound armies. The AI's lack of grace in the use of fleets is well-known, but this is a cart before the horse - they could get a lot better at just walking over land without hurting themselves.

Though it may be asking for too much, a ctrl+click option to make armies automatically split up to convoy through attrition would be nice. So if, for example, I had an army of 10k, and I wanted to send it three provinces deep into pagan homelands with 2k supply each, I could just ctrl+click the destination, and they would go:

10 -> 0 -> 0 -> 0
8 -> 2 -> 0 -> 0
6 -> 2 -> 2 -> 0
4 -> 2 -> 2 -> 2

and then remain split up in this way, since the final destination would not have enough supply for the army. On the other hand, if I wanted them to move through such territory out to a full supply province on the other side, they would filter through it at that amplitude until finally forming back up on the other side.

I'm sure we've all executed these logistics by hand before, but it's one idea, and it would be pleasant to do it with one click.
