Someone mentioned the lack of a historical rivalry in the Byzantine empire 1066 start, and I remembered that CK3 has a family feud mechanic already. I say "remembered" because I haven't interacted with it almost since it was introduced -- I guess players thought all the murdering was too much and it got toned down. But wouldn't it be really good for stimulating the politics in Byzantium? Especially if it was as focused on political schemes as on hostile ones. I think basically the only way feuds happen now is if you do a lot of murdering, but if they were both easier to start and also less murder-centric I think it could add quite a bit to the game.

House Feuds as a whole desperately need a rework. Your example with Byzantine families is a good example how unused and disjointed with rest of the game this feature is.
