I now have had multiple adventurers/mercenary captains, who have gained blackmail hooks on me, because I have murdered people. But so far, none have ever done anything with that hook. They don't demand gold, they don't demand land, they don't demand a marriage.

Does anyone has seen the AI adventurer do something with a hook on your ruler?

It is a pity, because the event that gives them the hook, so no totally harmless.

yeah i mean. kind of for the best they dont have ai to DO anything with it, given that they get it magically through some horseshit event in the first place

would be better to just not have the event in the first place but i guess at least there being no reason to care about it is a close second

I agree that the adventurers should either do something with hooks or not try to get them in the first place. Remove useless popups.

Nope, not even once. You'd think AI landless would be constantly trying to marry my unmarried children at the very least, but no. I always just accept the hook and never have to do anything after that. It's a very pointless event.

Well merc capitains cant do any of that because demanding gold, despite being perhaps the only universally applicable se of hooks. is locked behind a perk they probably dont have, and everything else they cant do!
As for landless..... I would guess they just have baron-esque AI, so basically none.

Did you know? Aside from direct vassals who are not councilors, no AI character will EVER use a hook on you! Aside from paying a small stress toll, it's completely safe to give out hooks in events, for schemes, etc. The AI only uses hooks to get a seat on the council.

You might be worried that they could use their hook to negotiate a better contract, marry your daughter, demand payment at a critical moment, force you into a faction or scheme or force your vote in an electoral empire, but none of those will ever happen.

I'm pretty sure I've had AI Vassals use their hooks on me to change their feudal contratcs. Might have been in some older version, though. As for all the other istances you mentioned, that's really sad AI can't use such an important mechanic.

They do change contracts with hooks, assuming you didnt change them beforehand, and i've seen AI force marriages on me sometimes, but yea, hooks are kind of useless, not just for AI :Р

The problem isn't that they try to get hooks, but that they get them from a random travel event.
One that doesn't just fire WAY too often, but also reveals secrets that shouldn't be able to get discovered!

The AI also uses hooks to force fellow vassals into a faction. At least that is what I assume, when it says 'forced into faction' when I check who is all in the faction and what can I do to make them leave it.

Eh I have had hooks used also so that my vassals marry of their children to mine.

I never had that happen.
The only things AI does with hooks on me is install themselves onto my council or change their contract.
It's super rare, but I have seen an AI use a hook to force a marriage once that I can recall. In my 1000+ hours of CK3 (which should tell you just how rare it is). My heir was forced to marry a woman 40 years older than him (and thus unable to actually have kids).

I assume the rarity is a combination of the AI's marriage AI always being broken, and the general weights for marriage being hard enough that it almost never appears as an option. Unlike adjusting contracts or forcing you onto the council, using a hook for marriage just adds acceptance, not guaranteeing it to work. Given how many modifiers apply to marriage, it's rare that it will actually apply for anyone the AI considers worth marrying.

Well maybe it works for nomad. Because whenever I play as nomad once I give a hook and have a family member eligable for marriage, I get soon afterwards the notification that hook whas used for a marriage. Though I have seen it once also for being used so that a sheik could marry a lowborn courtier of mine.
