Couldn't the pretender from Essos have some ships so that he may be able to reach Dragonstone? Otherwise he has no real way of gaining a high warscore against Stannis and is thus stuck sieging provinces for years on end.

Does he need to have more advantages than he already does? Unless i interfere in their conflict directly, he always seem to kick AI Stannis' ass before he's able to get any troops back from the north.

Yes, it takes him a couple of years, but AI Stannis is basically incapable of pulling back the advantage that Aegon gets early on in the war

He doesn't? Wow, that's quite a step for the show to take.
Not that surprising given the number of other rather significant changes the show has already made.

He's always seemed like a Mummer's Dragon to me, who's basically gonna be a distraction for the more important players in Westeros. A big distraction, but a distraction nonetheless.

So i can certainly see why they've cut him. The role of distraction doesn't necessarily need to be filled by Aegon

We'll only know how much of a mummer's dragon he is when and if he meets one of Dany's dragons. Which so far seems very unlikely.
