I've tried countless times to get the Iron Throne in that scenario, and I must say, even when EVERYTHING goes right (defeat Boltons, get Rickon early/have Jon accept the offer, win the war against the Others) there's just no way to win the throne.

By the time you stabilize the situation in the North either Aegon has already sieged all your holdings, and you're downgraded to a Duke, or Tommen does the same and you're thrown in prison. In my current game as soon as I managed to put Rickon back on Winterfell I was arrested by the Lannister usurper.

Isn't there a better way to represent this scenario? Like, make the actual war against the Iron Throne trigger after you deal with the North, but still have the Iron Throne be hostile towards Stannis in the meantime?

Even when I choose to ignore what's happening North of the Wall, accept the mercenaries and focus entirely on freeing the North, Winter makes troop movement take so long that by the time I start sieging the Riverlands, BAM, I'm thrown in prison.

I understand it's supposed to be difficult, in every way possible, but when I lose no matter what I do there's actually no point in playing as him in that scenario.

I never found this scenario THAT hard, truth be told.

Usually i can win against Bolton very easily, and afterwards the Northmen, with a bit of luck, can get the Iron Throne for me.

Just don't know if they balanced this in the recent patches, it has been a while that i don't play, even if i'm a Stannis fanboy.

Yep, I'm talking about the current patch.

I mean, with the 10k troops you get from accepting the deal with Braavos it is easy, even with attrition, but the fact it takes ages to maneuver them around gives Aegon and Tommen more than enough time to have their fun with the Stormlands while you can do nothing but watch the warscore drop :(

Aye, I see AI Stannis taking the throne ALL the time. Unless I'm playing as "Build-a-ruler" on the Iron Throne, Joffery beats rob, Stannis beats Joffery, does some variation of executing the main Lanister family, and then he ends up dieing in some sort of plague. Then his daughter takes over, and, in my experience, dies of disease/stillborn childbirth/naturally in the first couple years of her reign, leaving Daneyrs as the High King.

This is more about the AI Stannis beats Tommen, Bolton and Aegon wins intially then dies scenario.
