SESSION 1

1 Januar 1936 - 18 August 1938

JAPAN

The Japanese glory in 1936 was still suffering from the words of Haiakuba in the Nationalist Goverment, and the tention between the to nations was groving rapedly.

The evil Nationalist Chinese was getting more and more agressive towords Japan and its allied Manchukuo , and the Manchukuo Goverment requested military support from Japan to defend its borders, in case the evil chinese would attack.

The Japanese Empire decided to defend its allied in a case of attack, and as the Nationalist China was directly thretening Japan, did the Empire decide to attack at the Marko Poolo Brigade incident.
The Elite forses of the empire stormed ashore and secured Nanjing in a encerklement, then the Marine command secured the city it self.

The Tactical Airforse bombed infastructure as the chinese was retreating.
The new mobile Tank divisions of Japan hunted the chinese down, and throu blitz attacks forsed them to surrender.

The Japanese indistrual plans is focused on Airforse, and the Airforse of Japan will be the wourlds largest within shortly. This massive prioritatings on Air has redused the ground productions, and for this reason has the china campain taken over 1 year. All the smaller chinese nations joyned up for an allience, and the now huge Japanese empire have annexed it all, but a very little tiny natrion on Afganistand border who Japanese tank divisions is on way to invade right now.

The mighty Japanese fleet is also being upgraded, and newer ships is pumped out on daly basis.

The Japanese Empire

The Japanese Empire will be ready for any challange in the future.

AAR: Brazil

Brazil

In early 1936 the Left wing Government has undertaken a 2 year plan to industrialise the nation and become the leading Industrial power of the southern continent.

As time passed and factories were build up. Right wing opposing politicians warned for threatning German National-Socialist influence in Argentinia. Under influence of increasing opposition Brazil sought strenght in bonding with the Old imperialistig English Empire.
The Govenrment was convinced with English Allied back-up their Nation would be secured. THe people however were not. Under propaganda of the Right wing politicians, the people demanded new elections, and with increasing English influence a Right wing Government was chosen.
As industries increased, started up war production, and research working together with the British the government is strenghtening its defences.

As Brazil increases its Military power, and closing the gap with their Argentine neighbours a new player has imerged and joined The Strong German Alliance. The oil-rich state of Venezuela on the north-western borders.

War production increases as a public outcry for national security. Although Brazil has surpaced Argintian strenght, the people are less then satisfied.

A new shock hit the country as the former Portuguese Colony now sees Portugal swayed over to Ally with the German Alliance.

As war tension increases, dissent is growing. How long the newly elected government will hold, only time will tell. Fortunatly Paraguay has just sided with the Allies and has joined forces with Brazil to guard common borders.

Hungary aar from January 1936 to August 1938.

Goverment memo stolen by allied spies:

Hungary is in a sorry state, but the situation can still be turn around. Clearly allies are needy for this, as we does not have a strong Industrial base (base 23) and few resources. The only one that makes any sense is Germany, so a message has been sent to germany that Hungary wants to join the axis. A Secret protocol has been signed with Germany to partition Czechoslovakia at an appropriate time, but germany has made it clear that yugoslavia is to be left alone for now.

Uk and France might want to defend Czechoslovakia, and therefore we must be prepared for a war. A two year program of building factories has been launched. In total 6 factories has been built. With blueprints from Germany, industry and infantry is being modernized. A special thank to Italy for the blueprints for modern infantry, our scientists are busy working on it. Several revolutionary ideas of modern warfare has been developed.

Germany has build a stong diplomatic mission. The german propaganda has made the public more hawkish and the millitary has been convinced of benefits of a standing army. Except when german economists were arguing for free markets this has been a benefit for us.

Romania has also joined the axis, and therefore the our policy is currently not press the Transylvania issue. Regaining slovakia is considered much more important. After a successfull war against Czechoslovakia, this policy must be reviewed.

If war breaks out, we will be cut off the world market. Therefore we must try to build up a stockpile of resources. Large amounts of supplies for our armies are also being built. Making supplies is something we are very good at (+30 % from ministers). Extra warehouse are being built now.

The hungarian army is still small. We should be able to shift the entire production to building armies, when modern weapons have been developed. Since we have supplies enough. The war ministry expect that we can have
30 divisions ready in a year.

Romania had a relatively weak economy in the mid 1930s and therefore it was decided to build up the industrial base to better serve the populations needs. As Carol II looked to the northeast, he saw a big threat in the Soviet Union whom had done much to cripple the economy of Romaniain the previous decade with communistic ideals.

Carol quickly looked to Germany and saw a lot of revolutionary ideas emerging that were showing great results and asked for her protection. Carol expressed his desire to incorporate some slavic lands as well as Bulgaria into the Greater Romania. Herr Hitler was adamant about not expanding and we humbly backed down. In the same discussion we expressed our concern about our Hungarian neighbors greedily eyeing our transylvanian lands and asked the Reich to support our sorveignty over them.

The first agenda for Romania was to set up some trades for resources needed for factory operation while constructing new ones:

rom02.gif

A 3 - year build plan was initiated to be completed in the first quarter of 1939 at which point we would be able to sustain most of our own needs.

Initially Carol instructed his scientists to focus on measures to improve factory output and agricultural growth:

We've heard whispers in Berlin describing adventures far away from our home in Romania to take part in and we're anxiously awaiting the next decade...

Canadian Goverment is satisfied, our industrial base passed fron 28 to 43 between january 1936 and july 1938 and our manpower is growing faster than ever and we pass fron win 0,15 daily to 0,26, being our reservers over 200 right now. But this is only the begining, rumours fron the old europe arent good and speak about ambiciosus dictators. Seems that we ll ve to raise taxes for pay more soldiers...

Unites States live in peace

United States trust in peaceful intentions of all the responsible rulers of Earth and hope that the war between Chinese and Japanese could be solved peaceful and prewartime borders set up again. USA trusts that the southern Backyard of South America will see peaceful and prosperous development without intervention from European or Asian Colonialist powers.

SOL020802.gif

Even Monroe doctrine is under serious internal opposition.

New politics of peace trough weakness has been a great success. This is due to fact that with our outstanding industry we could easily provoke other nations into dangerous spiral of armsrace.
Wisely the United States of America has decided to concentrate on industry of consumer goods and expanding that industry of luxury as well. Even the military ships that were on the construction yards 1936 have been sunk into mothballs as are the navies of this nation which have been build during old and gone militaristic times of America.

Italian AAR

SESSION 1

1 Januar 1936 - 18 August 1938

Italian perspective

In 1936 the italian leader Mussolini pushed for further industrialization of northern italy by political means in a one yearplan. This area can now proudly call itself one of the most densely industrialized areas in the world and a guarantee for that italy will never be a poor country again.

Italy has also joined an alliance with germany to make sure war will never start again in europe.
Also in africa Ill Duce has keept his promise to the not so blessed african tribes, and has now brought stability and economic progress. The eastafrican area of ethiopha and somalia are both now equal trading and militarypartners of italy. Shortly after that he also took it upon his shoulders to bring prosperity and stability to the poor little brothercountry of albania by sending a peacekeeping force there.

But dark clouds are begining to gather over europe. Italian intelligence says british warships are patrolling outside the italian penninsula day and night and have sometimes crossed into italian waters which they have no reason to do.

Italy is a pacifist country as everyone can see, and uk have nothing to fear.

Italy is now building airplanes and upgrading its airfields to make it easier for more tourists to come and visit our glourious nation.

One of Ill Duces personal favourites among the airplanes produced by Marchetti

But the Italian people doesnt fear any foreign powers, it trusts it alliance which is growing bigger every month thanks to excellent german diplomacy.
Not even the red beast in the east, sovietunion could stand a chance if it would turn its greedy eyes on westeurope. We will never become soviet slaves like the peoples of the east!

Our big and united front!

Revolution - Germany

Following defeat in world war one, times were difficult for the German people. With a diminished sense of national pride, a terrible depression, and playing the scapegoat of the world; Germany struggled to survive. Then, came reform, sweeping reform! A new government that reminded the German people of their rich history and encouraged them to work towards a common goal once again. In a few short years Germany became the envy of the world, lifting itself from its depression and becoming once again a European Power. But, not everyone was happy with the new Germany... The coveting eyes of the allied alliance viewed Germany as a threat and began preparing for war as Germany industry took off.
Sensing danger, the german government began discussions with various world powers about a new alliance to be called the Axis alliance. The allied nations stood shocked as nation after nation joined the new German alliance, an alliance which quickly grew in size to at total of 12 nations (soon to include more).

The New Axis Alliance:

Germany, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Persia, Afganistan, Argentina, Venezuela and Portugal. An impressive coalition of nations if ever there was one....Stalin is said to be furious.

The German economy is now being put to work creating troops to defend the German Fatherland, for, while the large alliance is certainly nice for Germany to have...other prizes are yet to come.
And come they will.

Nationalist Spain

Given the rather chaotic duty of fighting a civil war with the loyal portions, of what was once the Republican army and units from the landed gentry, I found going rough. I decided early on that I would avoid destroying army units and peasantry where possible. As after the civil war we would need the army units, and not the animosity of the peasants. Instead I concentrated on forcing the enemy’s forces from ports, cities and supply bases. During this period it became obvious to me that the people were behind the revolution. When I explained we couldn’t win a war against the whole population of Spain, Franco replied not to worry we will have help from the capitalists, fascists and other more unexpected sources.
I concentrated on gathering revolution leaders and attempted to stop the revolution from growing. Receiving assistance from Italy and Germany, proved to many that the revolution had no chance, yet organizations such as The Friends of Durruti, along with communist lead “reformist” organizations such as National Confederation of Labour (CNT) and Iberian Anarchist Federation (FAI) continued to back the revolution. Later after several favorable engagements against the republican “revolutionary” Army it seemed as a new concept had been inserted into the revolution, the notion of a counter-revolution.

300pxguerracivilitalia1bd.jpg
[/IMG]

It appeared to myself and the staff that no matter how many revolutionaries we beat back or captured 2 or 3 more would take there place. The streets required constant patrols and occasional clashes occurred between nationalist forces and unarmed citizens. When I reported to Franco my opinion of the situation, that we had won nearly every engagement and had cut off supply sources repeatedly, but the revolution still grows he seemed unconcerned.

terualsiege4fm.jpg
[/IMG]

Several weeks past, and we won more battles pushing the Republican army away from its last coastal stronghold and supply source. During this period I noticed less activity in the streets and that the backing the CNT and the FAI had given the revolution was disappearing in favor of this new “counter-revolution” ideal. It was soon after that only the most extreme portions of the republican army in balboa and a few other locations would continue to resist.
After defeating these few units the “Official” war was over on 8th September of 1936. The revolution, which started in May and came to a head in July was over. Not so much by the military victories I engineered but by this concept of “counter-revolution”. I soon learned that the leaders of the CNT and the FAI (most of whom were communist) received orders from Comintern leaders in the Soviet Union to start this new counter-revolution. When I personally confronted Franco over how this came to be the answer was vague: “A deal was struck between the leaders of the fascists, the Comintern, and the capitalists.” After some thought it occurred to me that the Comintern had stabbed in the back a revolution by the proletariat, by creating this counter-revolution idea, and selling it to the CNT and FAI. I then came to the conclusion that we couldn’t have won the war without this occurring.
After the final annexing of Republican Spain, Franco had determined I was popular with the troops and put me in charge of strategic production to expand the military and I became second only to Franco. The current goals are to upgrade the Industrial technology of the country and increase the industrial capacity using a 2 year 6 month plan. This plan also increases our research capacity. Things are well ahead of schedule on that plan thanks to Germany influencing our government with more effective and efficient ways of running the government.
I categorically deny all rumors concerning a secret alliance or deal with Germany at this point or in the future. We see Germany as to militant for our people to ally with, as our people are tired of war and revolution.

The relations with USA is rapedly getting worse, as thay protests aigenst what thay call Japanese agression, and threten to cut oil supplays and trades with Japan. However Japan is well prepered, and US knows that if supplays to Japan is cut, will war be iminent, and the very week and old US forses is not prepered for war with the Empire of Japan, and with this information at hand, is the US neutralety polecy an "only oppertunety" option.

Hungary aar from August 1938 to July 1940

Horthy's radio adress to the hungarian people on july 25 1940:

My dear fellow contrymen,

Our nation has risen to a place in Sun. Our forces have marched into middleeast, and pushed aside all resistance. The british did not dare to stand in our way. Hitler himself has sent a message to our troops expressing his utmost praise and respect for them, when they reached the crown jewel of british empire, suez. The japanese emperor has also sent highest praise to our brave army. The world has noticed us, and seen our greatness!

The british has savagely attack Afghanistan and installed a puppet goverment on the free people. They wanted to do the
same to the proud people of persia, but our armies and our ally Romania as pushed them out of persia. We will not let our allies down and soon we will liberate Afghanistan. Right now our armies are matching in footsteeps of Alexander the Great into India.

The british lust for war has not dimished and they have attack an other proud people, japanese. This will be their undoing and soon the british will forced to make peace. And we Hungary will be the master of India!! The japanese navy and airforce control the sea, and therefore the english has no escape. This time they cannot fled and must stand and fight.

Our industrial strength has never been stronger (base: 44 actual: 65) and is day and night turning out supplies for our troops. Thanks to our briliant scientist our armies are equiped with the most modern weapons.

I warn the soviet union that if it wants to make war on us and our allies it will suffer greatly.

Soon the war will be over and we will know greatness never before seen in our long glorius history.

God bless Hungary

Session 2

18 August 1938 - 25 July 1940

Italy started 1938 with mobilizing its troops for the imminent conflict with the UK in the Mediterranean and north of africa. After much provocations from poland (backed by the allies) against germany in the late 30s, the german people decided it was enough, and took the poles by storm on 1 sept. Shortly after that the french followed. In the Med. there was little sign of allied resistanse when 1 italian elite div made way from the egyptian border to finally reach alexandra where the commander of the UK Mediterranean fleet was found drunk in his bungalow with lots of whisky bottles around him. He was arrested and questioned after 24h. And the rest of the navy tried to escape the port but since both exits of the Med had been since long in axis hands there was no luck and it got sunk by the proud italian fleet.

The hungarian and romanian forces are sweeping the arabian penninsula and now going for the british colony of india with help of recently arrived italian armyformations. In the east the constantly growing empire of japan has started a offensive against the uk too and is making its way into india.

The future does once again look bright for the italian people!

Romania

Session 2:

With the completion of our industrial base we were able to increase funding for research into the finer art of war as well as produce new armored divisions to assist in our future conquests.

The Fuhrer met with his Romanian and Hungarian counterparts in late 1938 to discuss future plans for our empires. He strongly suggested that Hungary and Romania work close together to secure the eastern entrance to the Mediterranean to prevent allied interdiction in our area of operations.

German ambassadors were sent out world wide to join our cause in bringing national socialism to the people. One of the later suprises was when Saudi Arabia (which had left the allies which we suspect was due to the creation of the state of Israel) decided to join our cause.

A small coalition was formed led by Romania and Hungary. It included the services from Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Persia, Saudi Arabia, & Afghanistan. Yugoslavia and Bulgaria's prime task was to take Greece. Bulgaria was also to lend support to Hungary in a march for the Suez canal. Saudi's task was to secure the Arabian peninsula. Romania, Turkey & Persian forces were to secure Iraq and Afghanistan was to guard the flanks.

Early Preparations:

rom03.gif

rom04.gif

Hungarian forces met little resistance and secured the Suez within a few weeks of the opening of the offensive. Romania on the other hand met stiff resistance in Iraq. The Australians landed quite a few divisions in Basrah and pushed north for Baghdad. Meanwhile British and Canadian forces quickly overcame Afghanistan and marched into Persia.

The resurgence of the Ottoman Empire:

rom05.gif

Fortunately, Hungarian forces were able to support an assault on Basrah which led to the demise of several Australian divisions. Our armies then moved into the rugged mountainside of Persia to defend the middle east at all costs.

rom06.gif

Recon reports indicated that in early 1940, Allied forces began to withdraw into India. Orders were dispatched to pursue them immediately.

rom07.gif

There was heavy fighting in and around Karachi when in May, 1940 Japan declared war on the United Kingdom to open up another front in India.

The highlight of the session for Romanian forces was in securing the airfield in Dehli destroying allied bombers that had been harrasing our ground forces during the offensive.

Brazil

As tension grew the Great War was finally burst into a sequel. This time spreading to the South America's as well.
Brazil lauched an attack on neighbouring Argentina. The initial attack met with disaster. Lacking of allied Naval-support its Naval fleet was destroyed only after a few encounters with, the superiour Argentine fleet. In the process at least 6 Marine devisions were wiped out as well.
Hard pressed the Brazilian forces pushed on invading Concordia. In an effort to push trough the Brazilian forces encountered murderess resistance by Italian forces. The attack stalled and Paraguay was taken by Italian forces. The Argentian forces had to retreat as the inland now by way of Paraguay was open. In the nick of time Canadian forces arrived Securing the borders. And stalling an all out Italian/Argentine invasion. Although outnumbered the superiour forces of Canada Held out the assaults, as the Brazilian army reorganised.

The scout invasion in Venezuela revealed large troop movements of German forces advancing on Brazilian borders in the North. Having the main body of its Army in the South, the minor forces in the North could all but delay this new German threat. German forces swarmed in only slowed by the hard terrain.

Fortunatly Brazilians war industry produced a new number of troops. Reinforcing the Paraguay borders and Northern borders making a stand in Maraba, giving up Macapa and Boa Vista to the german forces.

Afther the tremendous loss of the initial assault, and now with new fressh forces, and reinforcements arriving from retreating African-French troops, Brazil retake Asuncion the former capital of Paraguay, and Concordia, finally beating the strong Italian forces.

The future is uncertain, and only time can tell if Brazil can hold out in these dark days.

The Australia of 1938 was in grim shape indeed. Criminal mismanagement by the former government(read AI) had left strategic stockpiles in frightening disarray, and both the navy and army were tiny and badly equipped. Beginning immediately after my rise to power things began to turn around. At the urging of the UK government our research and production was concentrated on defending our homeland and on the organization of an expeditionary force to aid in the defence of India. Our governement made good use of the remaining years of peace to modernize and expand the army, garrison landing zones on Australian territory, and defend our strategically important islands.

With the coming of war Australian forces saw service in Persia and in western India, and overall command of the defense of France and the lowlands was turned over to Australian generals. French and Belgian forces attempted to hold their positions along the border in the first onslaught of war with Germany, but were cast back. Knowing that only favorable terrain would forestall German advances plans were made for a withdrawal to the line of the Seine(Caen - Argentan - Paris - Troyes). Several German assaults were beaten back from crossing the river, but superior forces slowly forced our troops to retreat on the Eastern flank, first to Auxerre, and finally to Paris itself for a final stand. With Paris fallen, and India in dangerous shape Australian forces are now called home to commence their defence against a new enemy: Japan. Only time will tell if the power and wealth of the Axis nations can be met and turned back by the pluck and determination of a few free states.

Hi,

the AAR's of this group allways make for an interesting read!

This time I'm at a loss which countries are actually player controlled though?
I counted:

Germany
Kanada
Japan
Australia
Romania
Hungary
Nat. Spain?
Italy
Brazil
USA

so far who am I missing?

What's with:

UK
USSR
NatChi (befor Japan took over?)
France

It would be great to know who is actually on the opposing side of the axis?

Given that Revolution an High Command seemed do dominate former MP games of your group the game feels a bit one-sided toward the axis?!

Or did I miss something and this is co-op Axis MP game?

Hi,

Im glad to hear someone is reading them.

Yes humans players is at the moment:

UK
Germany
Kanada
Japan
Australia
Romania
Hungary
Nat. Spain
Italy
Brazil
USA
Soviet

+ human Soviet joined our game as rules say in 1 jan 39.
And human USA joined the game in 1j an 39 too.
(He did get to do his research before this though.)
Another principle we have is no human china or france, since they would make the game totally unbalanced and predestined
Australia joined the game late in 38.
Nat spain was able to join axis first after vichy but was there from the start of the civil war.
Brazil could join allies earliest in jan 37 or 36? i think.
Hmm dont think im missing anything..

Yes High Command and Revolution are some of the greatest players ive seen but they have always been major nations. And have been be beaten before so we still hope for an intresting and even game..

Cya on the battlefield

R2-D2

Oh, rest assured, people are reading.
I enjoy your group-AARs immensely.
Multi-player-AARs are the best.
I would only wish for some insight from the Allied side in this specific game.
Anyway, keep going, its a great read.

Germany - Revolution

War came to the Germans from those who were less prepared for it than they realized...or perhaps the Germans were more prepared for it than anyone else realized. 16 fighter wings and 8 naval bomber wings were ready at the start of war. A month later 30 newly commisioned U boats took to the sea...months later they would be joined by 30 more. The cost of this production was a lack of tanks for all early war opperations which lead to slow movement against france. Now...to tell the tale of war.

German politicians had been working incredably hard over the years, almost bankrupting my great country to do impossible tasks. Ally after ally joined my cause. Yugo, Turkey, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Venezuela, Argentina, Persia, Afganistan...the axis alliance swelled to eclipse the size of the allies. Forseeing the allied agression, German troops were moved out before the war to keep several strategic locations secure (the azores Islands, venezuela). The Azores Islands would become incredably important, operating as a base from which 8 wings of Tactical bombers have ravaged the atlantic sea zones. Poland proved to be difficult with 3 large troop buildups designed to slow down my advance for Warsaw. But, the allied command's attention was elsewhere and a part of my army was able to slip around the defensive points and hit warsaw while it was poorly reinforced. With poland secure denmark was quickly attacked, annexed, and then attacked and annexed again.
Around this time the subs were deployed and began to rove the atlantic under grand admiral Donitz. A group of french subs engaged the elite German subs with predictable results. This was followed by an engagement with a UK patrol that saw the United Kingdom ships suffer a terrible defeat. A counter force of UK Destroyers was sent out to destroy the sub threat...but, the subs were old and outdated, their doctorines far behind their time. 1 german sub was lost while the Destroyers were forced to withdraw after heavy losses. Now the UK ships sit in port under a veil of flak while suffering under intermittent naval bombing. U-boats were dispatched to India where they engaged and destroyed an australlian transport fleet. meanwhile Grand Admiral Raeder was sent on a covert mission to attack the Canadian surface fleet with the German surface fleet. After weeks of waiting the Canadian's returned to halifax from action overseas only to be ambushed by Raeder. The axis have established naval superiority with the British navy reduced to 85 ships and destroyer fleets against Germany's 84.

France was a long and difficult campain due to the lack of tank support. Belgium fell quickly and the maginot line was passed but the french put up a stiff line of resistance behind the river fronting paris. The Germans had to overcome the cold french winter and slowly work around the river as repeated attacks showed that the french did have some backbone. With France gone I have settled down to building up my forces and supporting my allies in their endeavors while I attempt to maintain air and naval superiority over the allies. A tight battle has been raging in south america with the Brazilians pushing back the italiens while trying to slow down German forces coming down from Venezuela.

Viva La Revolution!
