The year is 1933. It is almost thirty years since the Great War drew to a bloody close, finally shattering the Sixth Coalition and leaving 17 million dead behind it. And it is one hundred and twenty years since the Peace of Paris left Napoleon as the undisputed master of the European continent. His successors have continued to lord over the world from Paris, the seat of the French Empire and the ancestral home of the global nouveau régime.
Now, a liberalizing France under Napoleon IV maintains its leadership through modernization and free-market trade, under-girded by the century-old Continental System. A treaty of amity with the old foe across the Channel seems to have finally sealed a bitter conflict, and the future of France looks bright.
Yet a new, enigmatic and altogether more menacing threat to the Pax Gallica is rising, as Russia moves from a chaotic experiment in socialism to the militant nationalism of Anton Morchenko and his "Zavstra" movement - and all the while, Prussia turns away from its failed German designs to seek its future with the east...
With a recent apparent growth in interest in alternate history mods and with the example set by the incomparable Kaiserreich, I would like to announce development of a new mod for Darkest Hour, Napoleon's Shadow.
The history of the mod is based on the excellent "Napoleon's Victory" timeline on alternatehistory.com, which Zach has permitted to be used.
Since I am personally inexperienced in modding, and a mod as ambitious as this will require the input of more than one person, the purpose of this announcement is primarily to scout for interest in developing the mod. If you are interested in helping out, please make sure to PM me and/or add me on MSN (the address should be on my profile). Any sort of experience is welcome.
A fuller announcement will hopefully be forthcoming when the mod gets off the ground properly (I have done preliminary work on it but nothing much to post screenshots about yet!).
