The AI needs to act right!program it to think like a human:p

EDIT: CBB , I will send you the events for the Cal next week, so much work in RL

Countries that rely heavily on things AI badly sucks in need AI events. I still think those events should be optional though, because some players don't necessarily like them. That configuration thingy Tombom showed about in other thread might help in that, but if needed AI events could be manually put in and out with # - marks in events.txt.

Eire is prime example of country relying heavily on things AI sucks in, namely trade, naval warfare and colonization. Hansa and Genoa fit that bill as well.

Also, if people just have the determination to do them, all countries could have AI events to make AI more challenging, as I believe SP players do want AI to be a real challenge to have things interesting.

That is a very interesting idea. It's a lot of work, but we don't need to write extensive descriptions (which is the most tedious IMHO), nor do all events immediately (as long as we help rivals at the same time).

What about random AI-help events ? Triggers can be made such as techlevels, religion, and many other, to fine-tune them. This would ease the burden of coding, with an heightenned 'alternate history' feeling, rather than knowing at advance what event will come for the AI*.

* Yes, such as knowing Portugal will get some CoTs in Asia if left alive long enough, and DA them right thereafter :D

I think a good event trigger to use for events like these would be the loss of certain key provinces by a weak AI nation. I've heard suggestions along this line before with Portugal and Oporto or it's southern province (can't think of the name). For instance, if Erie loses its northernmost province, Ulster I think, which get's it's COT and is the Ireland terminus of the straight, then an event should fire which would boost their tech, or return the province 'due to rebelion' or in exchange for a vassalship, or give them a cash bonus (stripping the province of resources by locals before turning it over), something along these lines. This would help prop up the AI if it happens to be performing exceptionally weakly, and maybe give them a chance to regain lost ground.
