vehicles actually have hidden HP that's slowly chipped away by HE, and this including tanks. (and I mean slowly)

AT rocket damage have the best modifier against armor among explosives, but conversely have a penalty against infantry. (as a note, AT rocket damage type is named "cluster". Veterans of wargame will recognize this as significant)

and There's only one AT rocket in the game, the RP3 SAP used by the AT Typhoon. Every other Aerial rocket in game are effectively HE.

And I believe Facing do matter. You are more likely to kill a panther from the side than you are from the front.

The rocket planes are garbage at killing tanks and pretty much worthless at everything else too. Heavy bombers are much more likely to kill them, guaranteed to stun them, and reload quicker to boot. You can kill panther in as little as 2 runs from p38 or mosquito heavy bomber if you get lucky with where the bombs fall. Ju88 can kill tanks but Germans have plenty of less expensive ways to kill allied tanks.

The Typhon AT is not so bad at all. Sadly the efficiency and mechanics for AT rockets are completly intransparent and not explained in the game. You can only try, which one is the best.

if you want to actually kill tanks using rockets, you need to be using the AT typhoon.

any other rocket are more for suppression. This include the HVAR on the thunderbolt.

Not really. I was succesfull many times with thunerbolt and and standard rockets typhoon. Just to be clear i dont deny AT Typhoon is the best at this job but other planes can land a killing blow too. Becouse of germans have much more efficient ways to kill enemy tanks i barely ever use their AT planes to strike enemy armor so i cant say are they efficient or not.

typhoon AT if unsuppressed 2-3 passes tiger and KT from side and 2 passes panther from side
It was a oneshot guaranteed. I will check the replay again to see if it was previously damaged by artillery or bombs.

edit: Ok it seems that some replays during beta haven't been saved. I will ask Pbatt if he still has it.

You could always turn off the AT rockets and leave guns on, wait for the guns to start firing and turn the rockets back on. They will fire at about 3/4 to half the range with more accuracy and better kill chance.

The key is not to just send rocket planes head-on with armor. You have to hit from the side or, if possible, the rear. I usually have my Typhoons spawn from a point off to one side so that they can turn over friendly territory before making their run on the sides. Two Typhoon ATs are usually able to defeat most tanks in that attack, save for the KT, which usually requires the 2 star vet Typhoon and 1 star vet (at least that's what it seemed like in most cases)

I don't even use AT Rocket planes to be honest.

I just use the regular rocket planes, and planes with dual 25 HE bombs. Those kill tanks too with enough fire, and more reliably than AT Rocket planes.

I use the ME109 AT rocket plane though, since it's sadly one of the best Axis interceptors since Axis interceptors are so bad.

Typhoon AT managed to kill my pristine Königstiger once. I believe it was a sideshot though.
assuming it's from the side, you need 4 direct SAP hit to kill the KT. A Typhoon AT carry 8 SAP.

so it's technically possible for a Typhoon AT to kill KT from the side in one pass, if the typhoon get a series of good accu roll.

from the front I believe it's impossible to do it in one pass. the armor is too thick. even if all 8 connect you wouldn't kill the KT(p)
