Announcing beta_1 of AJFIFU (basically my version of IFU)

PLEASE NOTE: you will need the EU2 Unlimited Time Patch by Moctezuma to run this scenario. This can be found in the stickied 'useful tools thread' in the Scenarios, Events and Modifications subforum

ALSO NOTE: Instead of installing each section listed in my posts from here, you can download the full package from KOSH's post (about four posts down)

This scenario is basically the IFU with tags realigned to be more logical and to be updated with the officialParadox 1.08 patch. The scenario represents history from 751 AD to 1150 AD. The reason for the release is to mainly provide a foundation for any changes and contributions anyone may wish to make, as this beta can then be used as a base. Any playtesting and bug listing will be appreciated as this project is far from complete (any comments make it in the IFU forum). Please note: I was not involved in the original IFU and therefore, this isnt really 'IFU' - but as the IFU seems to be dead, I dont think the creators will be too upset with me

INSTALLATION
To install, just extract the zipfile in your EU2 directory. All files are held in a folder called AJFIFU and so will not overwrite any files. I do not have an installation program so you will have to create your own shortcut on the desktop. This should be no problem. If you have any other moddir scenario already on your desktop just copy and paste back on desktop and rename it AJFIFU, enter properties and change 'target field' to "C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Europa Universalis 2\EU2.exe" C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Europa Universalis 2\AJFIFU or wherever your EU2 folder is located.

The download is just over 4 MB and includes all the major IFU files bar the Music (which while nice, makes the download huge and the music cannot be moddired).

CONFIG FOLDER
The text.csv is 1.08 and is in English. However most IFU event descriptions have been put through an on-line translator from German into pseudo-English. Most of which can be understood, but are far from perfect.

DB FOLDER
Several changes to revolt.txt, I have added many IFU countries that did not have revolt entries and have started to integrate new countries that existed at this time. A Good example is around the Low Counties.

revolt.txt: IFU based, altered for tag realignment. dates altered, revolt provinces altered, corrected some errors.

Added a plethora of names of Celtic, Saxon, Early French and Briton names to the RandomLeaders file. The file also contains Finnish names and a host of others.

...EVENTS
Two new event files, introducing initial viking raids on the British coastline and basic events for the formation of Christian Spain. Naturally, future releases will contain considerably more event files, as well as proper translations of the IFU or to gradually take them out and replace.

GRAPHICS
Not my area of expertise. However, I have tried to provide shield sets for most countries in IFU and are therefore good quality 24-bit and the flags are now compatible with 1.08's new palette. I have shamelessly stolen many of the sets from various websites, requests and other mods. Therefore any set that anyone recognises as theirs and are unhappy about me blatently nicking it may contact me and I shall see about replacing it. I have personally made shields (but not flags) for Karelia, Lappland, Volgo-Bulgars, Brittany, Slovenia and Mordvinians, so you can blame me personnally for them being awful

Way to bump. IFU was great. It was that kick ass medieval mod right, that needed a 1.04 installation of EU2. I wouldn't leave a link active after 4 years, just 3 and a half

Imperium Francorum Universalis.

It was an oooold mod before I tried to revive it (it died in 2002).

IFU was a German language mod for EU2 set around the time of Charlemagne (751AD and onwards I think). I did a text.csv translation into English (barely - I don't speak German).

For my own entertainment I tried to revive it because I liked the period and after starting decided to try to revive it in public (the AJF are my initials, I should have dumped them and kept it just as IFU but as I wasn't involved in the original mod I didn't want to do that).

AJFIFU is over 4 years old and likely incompatible with the latest patch. I'll have a look at it when Kosh gets it to me, but I can't promise anything.

IMO this mod is a prime candidate to be ported to the Old World map that is being built by Cool-Toxic.

Nothing new, just made changes so that it will work with latest EU2 patch. This download contains all files. Just download into your root EU2 folder and extract. It will place a moddir folder in your EU2 folder called ajfifu.
