This is my new game, Scenario 1067, Byzantine Empire.

Rules:

A) Only warriors or clerics can declare wars:

1. misguided warrior = 1 war
2. tough soldier = 1 war + 1 crusade
3. know. tactitiasn = 2 wars + 1 crusade
4. bril. strategist = 2 wars + 2 crusades

5. clerics = 1 crusade

Crusades are limited to the OBJECTIVE GEOGRAPHIC ZONE. In other words, if my objkective is conquering Egypt, I can DoW all Muslim rules within that zone.

B) Only priests could do forced religion conversion of provinces.

C) NO parental upbringing.
- male children: warriors send them to noble men, priests send them to monks and others send them to nannies
- boys receive millitaru education if their millitary stat. is higher than other stats. In the same way, ecclesiastical if intrigue stat is the highest, and court education for the rest.
- female children are sent to ecclesiastical education by priest fathers and to the court education by the rest.

D) diplomat ruler has right to revoke titles from vassals

E) intrigue ruler has right to send assessins

F) steward ruler has rights to take loans or fill treasury calling Estates General

G) rules could claim titles only if having honourable or respectable reputations

H) after claiming a new title, prestige must not fall below 100

Following the death of Konstantinos Dukas (who died old, ill and abandoned), the nobles of the Empire decided to give the throne to Durgulel, respectable prince of Alania, in hope that this man from the East would be able to end the ongoing war against powerful Alp Arslan, leader of Seljuk Turks. Young and unexperienced Michael Dukas (hopeless spender - the same as his father) could not object and returned to his pathetic court in Adrianopolis.

Empire in 1067:

1. Durgulel reign

1067 - 27th April - corronation as Roman Emperor
- introducing Feudal contract and Ecclesical balance
- alliance with Robert Hauteville, duke of Apulia
- May - white peace with Seljuk Turks
1068 - introducing Salic Consanguinity
- creusade war against Rashid ud-Dawlah, emir of Aleppo (conquered
territory was given to Isaakios Komnenus, prince of Antioch)
1069 - claim title of Rashka
1070 - support the Church doctrine against ideas of a prominent philosopher
- ducky of Apulia invaded Muslim domains in Sicily
1071 - Durgulel died old. Prestige=401, Piety=281, chaste, just and zealous.

Quire strict rules. I might try to follow.

well, in fact I have to put these limitations, especially for Crusades, because it is very often too easy to expand in the east. When playing 1337 scenario, I am able to conquer the whole Persia in few decades when playing BYZ. Now, imagine what could happen playing 1066 scenario during 400 years. On the other hand, keepimng my reputation honourable or respectable would help me keep my vassals satisfied.

Your conquest rules will make the game a bit easier. You'll country will likely never fall apart if repremains high. Meanwhile, why do you have the blonde rule? Especially in the Roman Empire.

Anyways I shall follow. Although I'd suggest allowing yourself more agressive actions and unless you convert I don't think you, as an Orthodox Christian, can Crusade.

It's a question of definition. In my rules "war" means war against Christians, while "crusade" means war against the rest (pagans, Muslims, etc). That is "Orthodox Crusade" :)

Concerning the prestige, I could relax the rule and allow claiming titles up to "tarnished" reputation. Declaring wars would not depend on reputation.

Blonde rule: I want to see what are the descendents of Asiatic dark Alan men and European blond women :)

I am not sure about your restriction for "misguided" rulers, as this word is not synonymous with prudent, quite the opposite. Therefore, if you really want a challenge, why not make a misguided warrior launch a two or three front war for some mad ideal such as declaring war against all catholic nations in order to forcefully end the schism, attempting to reconquer Justinian's empire in their reign, trying to unify all orthodox people by force, or all of them at once? :D

I could take this into account. Luckily, no misguided warrior appeared. I have reached the year 1126, with one "knowledgable tactitian", make two successful crusades against Muslims, but could not keep the Empire united, because I could only have Imperial title (no kings titles allowed). Now, this emperor is wounded and ill, will die soon. His soon will be a soldier again (but, no idea if a good one). I will post update tomorrow.
