I can se that it could be possbiel to use the Alchemist as a minister it would be crossroad from Philosophy and natural science. We can also have events and effects linked to this minister use. I am not sure if I remember correctly but the natural science not available right away?
This class should only be avaibel from the early periode 1399 to the first deaced of 1500.

Well, even Newton was involved in alchemy. So it could last a bit longer than the 1500s. But what would an alchemist do? Create extra money? ^^

I think they'd be good as a kind of generalist proto-scientist before specialist advisors become available. Not quite sure how I'd balance it, though.
 
Eh, there wasn't really much of a difference in that period. Even the most "scientific" minds experimented with some rather out there stuff.
