Alienware problems

Hi

Got a couple of kits at home, all is well with them, they run HOI all day and all nite, only too releaved to handling bitmaps and not sweating under the weight of a million polygons.

So far so good.

For my sins, I have an Alienware laptop, the Area51m, its got some ATI GFX card in, DirectX. This beast will cope with anythin i chuck at it, native res of 1600x1200, loves BF1942, planetside et al. But will it handle HOI?!?!


No dammit.

I`m eternally dragged to the mother in laws, with my satanic laptop scooting along with me. How I would like to snuggle down and continue with my HOI games in ignorant bliss of the bribes and blackmails to produce grandchildren.

It simply wont run.

Well, it runs allright, loads my game, prepares to goto the map, then the screen goes black, and er.. thats it!!!

All the latest drivers, patches, bug-fixes, tweaks, curses and oaths


Not a twitch

At this rate, I`ll have to engage in conversation and I`ll probably end up having kids or something, then I wont be able to play HOI on the desktops, let alone the laptop.

Please, please help me.

First thing to try is renaming the AVI folder to AVI_back.
