1919

Planning for Germany’s Great Spring Offensive had being going on for over a year. New equipment, tactics and logistics had been developed, many of which were tested in the Greek offensive. Since the fall of Greece a second offensive had also been planned, known as Operation Radowitz, which called for an envelopment of the Italian army at the Piave by an attack from Trento. Germany sent four elite divisions to spearhead the attack.

This action saw the full revelation of a dark secret that Germany and before her, Britain had held since 1888. The removal of Prince Consort Vlad Tepes from the British throne and the secret destruction of Victoria by her power hungry son, the man who was to be crowned the King Edward VII - himself a sufferer of 'haemophilia' and a powerful force at court in his own right at the time had sent Graf von Dracula straight to the court of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

The vampire quickly acted to make the Kaiser one of his own, and soon the German aristocracy was riddled with the dark seed. Still the Kaiser was by no means perfect and with the upheavals in Austria-Hungary and Romania, Dracula departed to defend his Transylvanian fastnesses against encroaching modernity. Thus the aristocracy and their powers were kept under wraps until the German war effort had no recourse but their use.

Until the arrival of German 'Special' divisions, the Austro-Hungarian forces had managed to hold their positions after the aborted attack in 1918

The elite divisions that enveloped the Italian's at Piave were the best and strongest of Kaiser Wilhelm's brood, still young by the terms of the Elders, but already deadly honed blurs of brutal and unremitting vampiric death to the utterly unprepared Italians.

The line broke. The vampires were not alone however, all along the Western front, they used their dark powers to raise the dead of Paßchendaele and Verdun, the Somme and Ypres. The zombie legions of the Kaiserreich marched to the drumbeat of their new masters. The Italians hurriedly began to pull back from the Piave line but it was far too late for many. Despite strong opposition from an Australian division that held the road to Padua for three days single-handedly the Central Powers were able to push forward and reached the Adriatic coast south of Venice on the 10th April, trapping over 60% of the Italian army in doing so.The French lines broke across the front and the Entente was in full retreat by the end of 1919.

The rest they say is history.

FAQ's

  1. What on Earth?
. Basically this will be Kaiserreich Germany, but with the concept of Anno Dracula, mercilessly ripped off, and showing in certain little ways through the game.
  2. Any mods?
. Germany will receive some Vampire and many Zombie Squadrons, whilst Canada will receive Werewolves, as will Tsarist Russia. Romania is ruled by Vlad Tepes and has Vampire units that are stronger than German ones.
  3. What possessed you to do this?
. I just thought to myself 'What if Kaiser Wilhelm II is a vampire?'
  4. Game settings?
    . Hard/Furious/DD/ KR BetaV
  5. Where'd you get the tagline from?
. It's a rip of the old Punch cartoon from 1917 about the Kadaververwertungsanstalt (try saying that after a night at the pub)
  6. (add your own question here)

I'll do my best

I demand that Hitler lead's a small, elite contagent of Deutsch Vampir Kampftruppen :)

No chance - Gefreiter A. Hitler (vo. vers.) died at the Somme, and is currently serving as part of the 1. Somme Versterben Fußtruppe.

(vo. vers.) is shorthand for 'formerly deceased' - expect to see it alot. It is only used in reference to zombie troops.

Nein(Smashmouth answer was good), but better Paul Emil Von Lettow Vorbeck doing that in Afrika(or better using shamanism, that will break the awesome level by over Nine thousand:rofl::) ), by the way interesting concept.

I read about the Kadaververwertungsanstalt and i found that a dishonour for all the Deutches soldiers who died in the war:mad: , that is typical British(and in general Anglo-saxon) black propaganda, those deutches soldiers die faithfully for their nation and that is a insult* to all the fallens in war.

well that was my rant.

Nivek von Beldo

*(some similar happen here in my country in some weird history, probably base by that)

Hmm, this has potential - Lumleyesque "Panzertiere" rather than tanks... gotta love the idea of Rommel riding to war on the back of a giant bone-plated monstrosity that spurts forth streams of acid strong enough to eat through armor plate.

Lettow-Vorbeck's own adventures in Afrika will be given in detail in the near future. RE: Kadaververwertunganstalt - it truely was some filthy propaganda, though it was engaged in by both sides (if not to such an extent by the Germans) in the form of the the sinister 'British Army Reducer'. One wonders how much it might have inspired those who came after the Kaiser in Our Time Line... but enough of that - the Kaiser lives! What heresy is this!

I thought I had enough on my plate doing modding for this as is!!! XD This has a potential I suppose to go spinoff...

Paul Emil Von Lettow-Vorbeck said:
“Behind us we leave destroyed fields, ransacked magazines and, for the immediate future, starvation. We are no longer the agents of culture, our track is marked by death, plundering and evacuated villages, just like the progress of our own and enemy armies in the Thirty Years' War.”

Lettow-Vorbeck: Der deutsch-ostafrikanische Imperativ

In 1914, Lettow-Vorbeck was appointed the commander of the small German garrison of 3000 soldiers and twelve Askari companies in German East Africa. With the beginning of the war in August, knowing the need to seize the initiative, he ignored orders from Berlin and the colony's governor Dr. Heinrich Schnee: Schnee had insisted on neutrality for German East Africa. Lettow-Vorbeck promptly disregarded the governor, nominally his superior, and prepared to repel an amphibious assault on the city of Tanga, where between November 2 and 5 of 1914, he fought one of his greatest battles.

He then assembled his men and almost nonexistent supplies to attack the British railways in East Africa. He scored a second victory over the British at Jassin on January 18, 1915. While these victories gave him badly-needed modern rifles and other supplies, as well as critical boost to the morale of his men, von Lettow-Vorbeck also lost numerous experienced men in these pitched battles, among them the "splendid Captain Tom von Prince", whom he could not easily replace.

Lettow-Vorbeck's plan for the Weltkrieg was quite simple: knowing that East Africa would never be anything but a sideshow, he determined to tie down as many British troops as he possibly could; this would remove them from the Western Front, and in this way, might contribute to Germany's victory. Lettow-Vorbeck knew he could count on his highly motivated officers (their casualty rate was certainly proof of that). As a consequence of costly personnel losses, he afterwards avoided direct engagements with British soldiers, instead directing his men to engage in guerrilla raids into the British Kenya and Rhodesia, targeting British forts, railways and communications — all with the goal of forcing the Entente to divert manpower from the main theatre in Europe.

He gathered some 12,000 soldiers, most of them Askari, but all well-trained and well-disciplined. He understood the critical needs of guerrilla warfare in that he used everything available to him in matters of supply, he used the crew and artillery of the German cruiser SMS Königsberg (sunk in 1915 in the Rufiji River delta) which had a capable crew under commander Max von Looff, as well as its numerous guns, which were converted into artillery pieces. They would be the largest standard land artillery pieces used in the East African theater.

Askari.jpeg

One of Lettow-Vorbeck's Askari's was captured in this sketch in late 1917

In March 1916, the British under Jan Smuts launched a crushing offensive with 45,000 men moving to stamp out the Askari's. Lettow-Vorbeck patiently used climate and terrain as his allies while his troops fought the British on his terms and to his advantage. The British, however, kept on adding more troops and forcing Lettow to yield territory. Nevertheless, he fought on, including a pivotal battle at Mahiwa in October 1917 where he lost 519 men killed, wounded or missing and the British 2,700 killed, wounded or missing.

After the news of the battle reached Germany he was promoted to Generalmajor. The British would recover their losses and continue to hold an overwhelming manpower advantage; for the Schutztruppe it was serious, there were no reserves to again fill the ranks. It was at this point, that the Orishas came into contact (and some say possession) with Lettow-Vorbeck.

It is not known where or perhaps whom they came from, but from 1917 onwards, he was a distinctly changed man, of a suddenly dual nature. He claimed that Eleggua, Oya and Ochosi guided his footsteps, and it seemed that they certainly did - his Askaris broke off from their supply train and became a roving, nomadic tribe that ravaged Rhodesia, Mozambique and at the height of the war in 1919, lead a full scale invasion of the Natal, the same 10.000 Askari essentially becoming such as to be mostly unstoppable by conventional means.

A British report of a captured Askari revealed that underneath his uniform intricately tattooed charms of a patterning unseen in the local art since certain archaeological sites had been dug up, were for their defense. The Orishas whilst certainly possessing Lettow-Vorbeck more fully and perhaps completely, nevertheless were also present in the mind of every Askari - for the same night, the captured man escaped from his chains, overpowered 5 guards without raising the alarm and escaped into the darkness of the night, where he presumably rejoined his comrades.

The South African Union, only survived it's independence because in late 1920 Lettow-Vorbeck, a man whose name was synonymous with the bogeyman in the former colony at this point, gave generous terms to his former adversary, Jan Smuts, forcing only the recognition of his gains in Rhodesia. The reason for his generosity was simple however - the Orishas had, as quickly as they had come to him, deserted him and his men, bestowing merely the protection from bullets and knives their tattoos gave as a lasting memory.

Dracula - having revealed to the industrialised world at large what previously only a few peasants in a certain Carpathian valley and a certain dutch doctor knew has seemingly accidentally triggered something of a rebirth of the forgotten - hidden world.

Awesome. This reminds me of an aussie AAR which had an alien invasion innit.

The Moon Emperor may make an appearance.

This sounds so weird it can be nothing short of pure awesomeness. I'm subscribed :D

Glad you like yes?

Where is Geneviève Dieudonné now that the Empire (and Beauregard) needs her so much?

Geneviève Sandrine d'Isle Dieudonné is a naturalised citizen of the United States, currently residing in Orange County, California.

Fu Manchu is no magician. No, we shall be looking toward the internecine conflict of the Legation Cities and the Triads against the Manchus...

Looking forward to seeing more. Just wondering, if Kaiser Bill is an evil, undead monster, what would Mad Baron Ungern von Sternberg be? Or fat man Göring for that matter.

Oh come on. There's no particular reason for Goering to be fat in Kaiserreich - the morphine addiction caused by his injury in the Beer Hall Putsch never happens, and he's an active sportsman even in our timeline. For all we know, Hermann Goering never gets past his "robust" stage.
