All ambition choices greyed out

I had a quick search but could find anything related.

What has happened in my game, as the duke of Athens, is that I quit my ambition to become spymaster to choose a more favourable ambition since I received a few traits early on that look likely to allow me to get one of the big ambitions like paragon of virtue or renowned. So I cancelled the ambition and what this has left me with is a big list of possible ambitions and plots that are all greyed out. I can see them and see the requirements to achieve them but cannot select anything for my ruler.

I played about a month or two but there was no change. Is this common or am I missing something here or is this genuinely a bug?

When you cancel one ambition, there's a delay before you can pick another one. If you hover over the spot the ambition would be listed it will tell you how long, I think.

This is correct. I lowered the amount of time a bit in my own personal mod, as I found it to be too long.

Odd. The delay idea seems to be right because it came back after a while. But I have cancelled other ambitions previously and in the last hour or so (ie. just recently) and there was no delay. I am confused as to why there only seems to be a delay sometimes.

It adds up even as you have ambitions active. For example, if you have the ambition "have a son" for five years or what have you, you should be able to select a new one regardless if you cancel it.
