Ok... Let's do it once and for all... I want you all to use standard sprite sizes.

Can anyone post a list of default Paradox sizes for:
- infantry/paras/marines/militia
- cavalry
- mechanized
- motorized
- tanks
- battleships
- cruisers
- destroyers
- submarines
- transports
- fighters
- tactical bombers
- strategic bombers
- transport planes
- dive bombers

Can someone (N!ghtY?) please do this... Paradox sizes should be followed. Otherwise, sprites simply look stupid on the map, with one being loads bigger than another made by a different person.

.
This is hard to standardize

Even the Paradox sprites are not perfectly consistent. Especially when you take into account the real size of the vehicles.
Take for example a Pz.I and a Tiger
PzI has 4,02m while the Tiger has a total lenght of 8,45m with its canon.

The hull of vehicles in direction west or east is maximal and therefore CANNOT be wider than 64 pixels. But that should not be exceeded. In my opinion only 3/4 should be the max, meaning 48pixels for the hull. so if the tiger has a hull length of 6m these 6m have to be within the 3/4 of width.

a 4m Pz.I should then have 32pixels only!
This would also help very much in getting this "Uuuuh, wow, now i got a Tiger Tank" effect.

Between the unit types i think it is not so important to have the sizes taken too strict. But also here i think a sprite should not exceed 48 pixels hullsize. (For a Mech or Mot this would be the whole vehicle)

If the sprites are diagonal then it is easier isn't it?

But they don´t just stand, they also are on the move sometimes ... ;)

I think that there is only one thing of importance, and that is to keep the "feel" that relative sizes are about right. So e.g. a fighter should be consistently smaller than a bomber and all fighters should be about equally big.
Tanks should differ at least so much as to warrant what Nighty so aptly called the "wow, now I got a Tiger" effect.

There will always be a bit of "trial and error" in spritemaking, I guess.

Have to agree with Hartmann and KonigMaximilian here... Please do agree upon standards among the modders. Let's say this all turns out nice and in the far future Paradox would consider adding them, you'd want those units to be all nice looking, right?

I belive the Aircraft Carrier have the longest pixel width in the game even when going side ways, if any thing we could use the Carriers leangth and the normal Tank hight for messurments lol we really do neede to get this sorted out soon hehehe!

As a user not a sprite maker :) i dont agree on making a small sprite. When i look at how Sekinoss approached the making of the US tank sprites and mot and mech sprites i say his approach has been the best i saw. All his tanks looks very well and are not feeling weird to use. Ofcourse i understand the need for a standard but making baby like looking tanks will not be the solution in my opinion.

Goatis as well found the way to make the German lvl 3 and 4 tank very good. Also Nighty with his arrow sprites did nice.

Anyway those are my 2 cents hope it will help.
