@Gnivom - Could we make it so that:

1. A nation defaults to friendly, rather than neutral, with its allies' allies. This is something I'm constantly doing manually, and it would be great if this was automatic.

The reason is to avoid that one AI ally attacks another one of your AI allies' allies. For instance, if you're allied with France and Austria, France might want to eat up Savoy, an Austrian ally, and call you in against the HRE. To avoid the problem, I'd set Savoy as friendly, so France can't call me in against my own allies. Methinks this could and should be automated.

2. An AI that is allied with the HRE shouldn't be attacking HRE members. As HRE, I just had my French ally attack Lorraine. Which is silly.

I get your point. However, I'm not sure it would help. The AI doesn't declare war on neutral nations either. I think the main effect of this would be to create a lot of power blocks where everyone in a block is allied to everyone else, which I see as less interesting. I think it would make more sense to have the AI refrain from declaring wars against allies' allies. I will think about this, but it might have unintended consequences too.

@Gnivom: I don't mind AIs attacking my allies' allies, and preventing the AI from doing that isn't what I was meaning.

What I do mind is my allies dragging me into wars against my other allies' allies.

A way to stop them from doing so is to set yourself as friendly with your allies' allies. I currently do this manually, and this is what I'd like to suggest we automate when appropriate (i.e. when you'd normally default to neutral).

In doing so, the AI still can (and does) declare war on my allies' allies when I do that. But because of the (+60?) friendly attitude modifier it will no longer call me in to fight.

I do see your point in that it might end up creating power blocks, though.
