Could you please attach here your output log and settings file? They can be found in:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Iceflake Studios\Surviving the Aftermath\player.log
Documents\Paradox Interactive\Surviving the Aftermath\settings.ini

AND DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

I'm sorry, I deleted the file folder after uninstalling the game prior to a fresh install and the Recycle Bin has been emptied. The game won't start to generate a new one!
DXDiag attached plus ini file from Documents folder.

It should generate a new log even if it fails to start. Are you sure it's not there?

What happens if you run aftermath.exe directly, any error show?

Wow, OK THAT worked, took a while to load but the game ran OK from Game Folder .exe but it WON'T load through either Steam or Wemod.
New ini file and player log generated and attached.

So, trying to load via Steam gives Error Message about Visual C++ update etc.

BTW, I meant to thank you earlier for your superfast response. Excellent support. Muchos gracias.

As running the .exe directly worked, its log won't show any problem of course.

Is it that our launcher starts okay but the game will not start from it?

What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

aftermath.exe and dowser.exe (in the Steam StA folder)
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.13/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT aftermath.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Does game launch without WeMod?
Yes, I ran it successfully from the instal folder. Then I launched Wemod once it was running and that worked OK.

I don't use a proprietary AV programme, just Windows Defender. I will try running those items through the Exceptions List.

The Game Launcher works fine but clicking on the start button brings up the Error Message.

I'm grateful for your suggestion about running the .exe file itself. That worked fine, so I can play.

I'll report back if I get the problem resolved using your tips.

If game runs fine without WeMod and the second game session loads that "vanilla" save, but....

...when game runs fine with WeMod at first launch and the second game session cannot load the "modded" save,

that means WeMod is not compatible with the current gameversion.
