It's Sol 500, and like so many other endeavors, with success and failure are not so clearly defined. While we have established our first colony, the costs have outweighed the benefits to some minds and funding has been sparse, to say the least. Earth has all but forgotten us, except for when those shipments of rare metals come in. I think we have been too consistent, though. They're beginning to take us for granted.

Change is on the horizon, however. Our colony has split into various factions and a new governmental organization is imminent. The form it will take is as yet unknown, but what is known is that we cannot abide this strife any longer. We are sending off this growing faction with the materials to give them a foothold in another site on Mars. They are of our own blood and we harbor no ill will, but it is clear that our paths must diverge. If not now, then soon.

New Hard Mode!
  • Only 50% Sponsor funding
  • Only 50% rocket availability (minimum of 1)
  • Rocket travel time from Earth 10x
  • All goods cost 25% more from Earth
  • Goods are not unlimited (find a fixed number). Prefabs are limited to just 1 of each.
  • Materials may be ordered from the original Mars colony - same costs as original playthrough, rocket travel time is just 1 sol, no prefabs available. Only goods that the former save-file was producing above-and-beyond the maintenance cost may be ordered. Goods stock up per sol and start at 0.
  • Game starts with 2 techs in each tech tree already researched, breakthroughs included
