A continuation of "The Challenge of History", on Kasperus' enormous map.

Netherlands --------

Rules:
  1. Obey the GM.
  2. The GM reserves the right to edit out the effect of a bug, when he thinks this is necessary. See rule 1.
  3. The land slider is locked at land '5' for all countries, except Portugal and the Netherlands. Portugal and the Netherlands can go to land 3. After each session I will reset the sliders to the maximum allowed position.
  4. There's a stab hit rule to prevent eternal wars:
    • If you have been at war for 5 years or more with another nation
    • and that nations sends you a stabhitting peaceoffer
    • and you are at stab -3
    • and the peace offer is based upon a warscore of -99 for you,
then you must accept the stab hit peace offer.
Note: it is recommended that you pause the game and inform your opponent that you are about to force him to a peace this way, then he can check the current WS.
  5. Using certain exploits is forbidden. See below for more details:
General rule: if you think something is an exploit, then it is likely that it is one. When in doubt ask the GM.

The following is forbidden. The list is probably not complete.

  • Attacking an enemy fleet with pirates, as well as comparatively very small fleets, only made to inhibit loading/landing.
  • Releasing one or more vassals during wartime, to hinder an enemy.
  • Force-burning of manufactories, i.e. repeated move and halt orders to an army in a province with a manufactory.
  • Using lag to your advantage. This includes (but is not limited to): Sending lag colonists, building lag fortresses, sending lag missionaries, using lag diplomats. (The exception is using lag diplomats to send cash).
  • Declaring a 'fake' war on a country, with the aim to:
    • Increase the stability of the nation you declare war on.
    • Change the religion of a protestant or Counter-Reformed-Catholic nation back to Catholicism before the Edict of Tolerance.
  • Exploiting Simultanity: Using the game engine to break a deal, that would occur simultaneously in the real word. This includes (but is not limited to) the 'sale' of something in game.
  • Converting from Catholiscism to either Counter-reformed-Catholicism or Protestantism and then switching back to Catholiscism before the Edict of Tolerance.
  • Cancelling being the vassal of another player within 10 years, except when an event allows you to do so.
  • Trading maps with the AI.
  • Sending loans to the AI.

The following is allowed:

  • Breaking a truce, even when at negative stab.
  • Not leaving a human alliance, despite the alliance leader asking you to do so.
  • Landing armies in the port of a country you are in war with, because you still have Military Access.
  • Sacking capitals for maps except fake wars between humans before 1600
  • Stealing sieges
  • Trading maps with human players after 1600

I posted this to the other thread, but it should be here as well... everyone should be informed about contemplated edits.

Things to fix:

Fortress in Constantinople reduced from mighty to medium

Fortresses in NA minors: medium forts reduced to small, small forts reduced to minimal

Gold mine in Samara: Ryo removed this for some reason, restore

Tax values in Siberia are low, should be boosted throughout

Tax values in the near east are low, should be raised slightly; high taxes in the balkans and hungary make up for this somewhat.

France should probably have a bit higher MP

OE has really low MP

Ottoman Empire: Magyar culture. This was done last session, to make Hungary worth fighting for.

Brandenburg: fixes as required, get on ICQ sometime delos and we can talk about it.

Other fixes?

EDIT: Austria should get a couple DP clicks and some inflation reduction, to, say 3%

EDIT: Leader adjustments.

-----------------

Need a player for Austria next session, and some edits along the lines of DP slider clicks and inflation adjustment. Szabolcs?

I think it might be a good idea to release the NL. What do you think?

You are evil and shoud suffer appropriatly

jealous because i play better? you shouldn't be so :) I'm not a God.

Great, I can try to conquer the rest of Italy ;).

John,

Alci is playing Austria I think.

Fraese,

Add fixing leaders to the list. Mainly Suleyman (shock 5) and other ridiculously underpowered Turkish leaders, Eugene (should be 5-6-6 not silly 5-5-5), Wallenstein (even sillier-should be 5-5-5 not 4-4-4), Fredrick the Great (should die in 1786), de Rueyter if we have a Holland (should be 1676, I think), etc.

de Ruyter died in that year yes.....are we gonna edit everything in this game ?

Seen,

Just the things that are wrong. ;)

The goal ought to be getting everything that will be edited edited before the next session and ban all other edits of this sort from that time on. It's just that the scenario is a little fucked.

We need a Holland and Sweden, by the way, and a sub for France, if Pibe can even perm at the new time.

Times aren't good for me, but i'll see what i can do. I'll return on that later.

have you thought in making a new AoD 1492 scenario, i think there're too many MP, taxes and wealth in Cots, Russia lost the gold mine in Europe too.

Guys, last game the rehosts were absolutely brutal, and chewed up a lot of time. It was exceptionally bad, but rehosts are not uncommon for Eu2 MP. So, I think we should do what we can to cut down the amount of time it takes to rehost, and minimize rehosts. With that in mind, I am going to make the following request:

Please download and install Hamachi.

More information about it can be found in the sticky thread here in this forum.

Hamachi allows you to join games through the LAN interface, rather than through VNET. It is really easy to use, and very lightweight in terms of computing resources required. Simply install it, select a username, and then join a network. To join a network you need a network name and a password. The name of the network we will use on Sunday is "fraesenet" and the password is "eu2". I'm adding this information to the first post of the thread, for easy reference.

Hamachi improves connection quality and stability, and allows us to use a faster interface (LAN) for rehosting games. This should both reduce the number of rehosts necessary due to lag, and increase the speed with which games can be created and joined during whatever rehosts are necessary. Furthermore, Hamachi can be used to message other users on the network, if you prefer to shut off your bulky IM client while playing.

If you get stuck, ICQ me, and I'll help you fix it.

Hamachi as standard for our game

Still not the portugese edits in the list to-do

Still the same crapy name for the game  ;) :D

I've finished the indicated edits:

1. MP reduced by one throughout Italy, base tax reduced by 3 throughout Italy

2. MP and tax increased in the near east

3. French MP boosted in select provs, by about 7 total iirc

4. Gold mine added to Samara

5. Sibir converted to pagan religion, base tax raised in a couple of sibir provinces from 1 to 2 and from 3 to 5.

6. Base tax values in some six Siberian provinces raised from 1 to 5

7. Brandenburg & vassals WP, BB war exhuastion removed, BB loan deleted, 200d added to BB treasury

8. Austrian inflation reduced by 4%, now 3.7%, and two DP moves towards centralization added.

9. Suleyman, Wallenstein, Eugene, fixed. Other leaders not fixed yet because I'm having a hard time tracking them all down in the file.

10. Tenochtitlan population reduced to 40,000

11. NA minor fortresses reduced, populations reduced to 1,000

The Incan provs should have their populations decreased too. In vanilla 1492s most provs are about 5k. Many of them are actually lower than this, which brings the price of converting down to about 50D.

The same goes for the other Aztec provs, including ones still owned by Zapoteca. They would all normally be about 6k. Which is the difference between a 150D conversion and a 300-400D conversion, as most are atm. I probably ought to get some money for having to pay so much extra on the missionaries I've already sent also, but that's not as important, just wanted to mention it.

Alright, I'll fix those populations as well. I don't want to get into any kind of retroactive calculations or reparations, as that could lead to me having Samara, HG having extra manpower and tax from the near east, and you being penalized for having most of an inordinately wealthy italy under your thumb and it's much easier to just play it out.

The Prince Elector of Brandenburg would like to point out to our Southern German Brothers that we have claims over Wurzburg and Nurnberg; two territories which have been conquered in a ruthless way by the Duchy of Bavaria and shall return to us.

If Austria agrees to our claims we shall leave Bohemia and the rest of Central Germany alone.
