Well I am playing Austria in the Great Campaign.
1)
I conquered ALL provinces of Bohemia, then offered peace, and was allowed to choose 3 provinces. The main province of Bohemia was not among these of which to choose, only the 4 minor ones. And I was not offered annectation the whole country. Why ?
2)
Then I turned to Milano, conquering this state which consists of one province only, the main province of Milano itself. I offered peace, but oh dear, everything I could do was to ask for money. I was not offered annectation of the main province. Why ?
Btw, when I asked for money - I had 7 stars - I could go up to 2000 gold, not only 6x250 = 1500. Why ?
And I got only about 400. Saying the Lord of Milano accepts, haha, and pays only a small proportion, he's well off, haha, and I am pissed. Why ?

Main thing: I want ANNECTATION ! I want to OWN Milano, working my way thru to a harbor in the Med !

Please help, this (bug?) makes playing the game a bit nonsense :eek:/

I had the samething happened. I think what happens is if your battles a sweeping and you dont lose any and you over run the country. You must win all the battles. If it's back and forth and you lose 3 but win 5 and eventually take these provinces. Your awarded less because of this. If you blitz in and won everthing 5 zip you would get the ability to annex. This is always the case. When I play england I always move north first and conquer the scotts. If I sweep and take all fast and lose no battles annex is a options. When looking a the Offer Peace Screen those stars on top are a sign of how sweeping your victories. Lots of stars and that means success. Low number and that means toss up or stalemate

nope...I found something wierd...
I can´t annex a country that is a vassal of someone else...simple as that...
if minor is a vassal I get no annexation screen otherwise I ALLWAYS get the chance to annex the country.
Computer players on the other hand get to annex these same vassalized countries...
Played a game as poland where I got to overrun crimea, I got every province except the capital because I couldn´t annex it (Crimea was Turkeys vassal), yet when the Persians invaded crimea they annexed it immideatly, and there was no rupture of vassalage ties by crimea.

Annexing does work.

1)
On p. 85, the German manual states: by a peace treaty you can never gain (or give up) more than 3 provinces.
So, to conquer all of Bohemia which has 5 provinces, I think you have to wage at least two wars.

Furthermore, the manual states: a capital province may only be annexed, if you make a total annexation.
So, you can't get Bohemia's capital province after your first war with them.

2)
This situation could be accounted for if Milan has somehow managed to get a second province (perhaps a small island or a colony) in a place far away from Austria so that this second province is not easily observable for you.
(Austria is not very good at exploring the world in the GC, at least for a number of decades).

Incorrect, I've played many times as England. First thing I do is attacked scotland. I have many times annex the whole country of 4 provinces at once. One war, I've had mixed results only difference is how conviencing I won each battle. If a lost battles and came back later and won in a second one. I would have to settle for a peace with three provinces and tribute. Even though I have conquered the whole country

What is the problem? It's very simple! You just have to occupy all their provinces in a war, occupy means also having the fortress! When you have all the provinces, you get the possibelity to annex them, and their armies and fleets with them. No problem! Capice!

You can conquer all of Bohemia in a single war. Just occupy all 5 provinces and then in the peace treaty window you should have the option of completely annexing the country. Anytime you aren't completely annexing a country, you can only take a maximum of three provinces.

I´ve tested this one time and again and I have never been hable to annex a country that is a vassal to someone else. period!
I may be wrong but I have experienced this at least some six or seven times, and the country was allways a vassal of someone else.
I can´t explain why but that is what has happened in my games.
If I conquer a country (this means ocuppying every province/fortress of the enemy) and it is a vassal I get no annexation option otherwise I allways get that option (with, I confess :), one exception: if the minor belongs to a strong alliance, the annexation option only pops up when the 'biggest' allies get stomped on the battlefield).

And if I am following these posts well, I believe that maybe I am not the only one that has experienced this.

btw, I have been more critic of the game recently, which means that I just want it to get better...believe me this game is THE BEST, even with all this whining :)
It is just that when things are so dam good, you just start wanting them perfect :)
You tend to forget what it was like before...

Empirical data:

1) I have up till now annexed numerous vassals without problems.
2) I have on several occasions annexed countries with more than 3 provinces left in one sweep

If the annex option doesn´t show up, it should be because

a) 'forced annexation' is set to 'off' in the options
b) a far-away province of the country in question is overlooked.

Though I didn´t encounter this, I could very well imagine, that as a third possibility a country isn´t annexable when You have numerous gravestones because You´re loosing against it´s strong allies. In this case it SHOULDN´T agree to annexation, because liberation is in sight!

I would like to add two more scenarios:

- I conquered all Dutch provinces right after the Dutch declaration of independence. They did *not* have any colonies at that time. They did however hold a Spanish province (Luxemburg, I think). As a result of this Spanish province, I could not annex the Dutch. I also could not attack their forces, because they were in official Spanish lands. I had a peace treaty with Spain from the year before, so I did not start a war with Spain, just to get rid of the Dutch. I think that would deserve a fix by Paradox, I should be able to attack my enemies in such situations.

- I annexed Venice as Turkey. I had carefully search the map for any speck of land occupied by Venice. I had found a trade post in Africa, which I the occupied. After the annexation I found I had ended up with a tradepost in the caribean. I had no idea how I got, but it must have been Venetian. That would mean that tradeposts do not cound as terretories when aneexing a country.
