Hello all,

I am really trying to get into the Paradox grand strategy games and I am starting with MoTE because I heard that it is a little easier to get into. I'm hoping to move on to HoI and UE in the future but want to get a good handle on this first. Anyways, can somebody explain how frontage works in this game? I read the manual and I think that they actually define frontage by using the word frontage and I'm not completely sure what the hell their talking about. Any additional tips to a new comer would be greatly appreciated as well.

Go to YouTube, search for 'March of the Eagles lets play' and just watch how they play.

The players guide has a further short explanation of frontage: p55 IIRC

Basically frontage is the measure of available fighting space on a flank (for all flanks) in a particular battle.
Each brigade requires a certain amount of frontage to fight at any time. If the frontage space isnt there then those brigades cant fight, until the brigade(s) currently involved are destroyed.

So if in a battle with a frontage of 10 on each flank.

Your army has:
Left Flank: 3x infantry (needing 5 frontage each)
Centre Flank: 2x cav (needing 7.5 frontage each)

Then the left flank will have the first 2 units openly attack
While the centre will have only 1x cav unit attack.

Tbh Im not 100% sure if partial frontage allows another unit to attack but at least than 100%. I would need to have a closer look the next time I play the game.
