Anschluss of Austria ??

Hello everyone,

i started a game as germany recently after the CORE release. On the 12 of March 1938 i expected the "Anschluss" event, wich, in the former versions of Hoi2 made Austria a part of the Reich, but this time i only got the option to have Austria as a puppet...is this working as intended or am i doing something wrong ?

I personally would prefer to have the austrian provinces as well as the army Units to become German after the event..as it was in my former games as germany.

Can anyone help me with this ? Thanks for any reply

Austria decides the fate of it's future, if you were to ever play as Austria you would get three options:

1: Join the Reich (game over).
2: Join the Axis (Become a crony of Germany).
3: Resist Germany (No Anschluss, No Alliance with Germany, nothing).

When playing Germany, nine times out of ten Austria will join the Reich, however I have never had Austria totally reject Anschluss.

Did you choose Reichparteitag der Ehre in the 1936 Nuremberg Rally? That's a must.

Also, there's an event where Germany gets to choose policy towards Austria and the "correct" choice must be picked there (if you didn't get that event there's something wrong... there is a tiny, minute chance of the event not firing but it is so remote that it's not really plausible).

Hmm i have to check on that Reichsparteitag-thing...not sure atm.

Is there a chance btw that Austria wont join me if my army is too small? I was planning to stock up my infantry in 38 so my army i a bit weak at that timepoint...

The game doesn't include that kind of check, no. It perhaps should, but it doesn't.

on the other side i was getting lots of unknown strings....so i made some lottery.

General principle: First choice is historical choice. (I know there are some instances where this isn't true in my events, should probably be corrected)

Ok , i restarted the game and reoccupied the Rhineland right after that (Dissident was like 15% due to great war demonstrations hehe)

After i choosed "Reichsparteitag der Ehre" and reoccupied the Rhineland(Did not do that in the game before..i stacked them all in berlin with a logistics-leader), the whole set of "Austria-Events" happened and now, in 1938 Austria is a part of Germany.

Here again is an prior unknown fact. People are having issues with the "you dont need to know" path. Its nice to see the events getting explained here since I was getting nowhere at the CORE forum. Thanks.

Look, I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's not about knowing the game. Try things out, do them differently than you did the last time if you're unhappy with how things turn out. I can't explain the entire event chains in advance to cover all the bases. If you have specific questions of why a chain does this or that (or doesn't do this or that), then I think you'll find that I try to explain them, don't I? But when you have requests to have the actual events changed and I don't agree to those changes then you can't really complain about not getting it explained since that wasn't the purpose of that question.

And it makes no difference if I answer here or on 21vikings.dk. On the other hand, the bug reporting forum is for reporting bugs and perhaps suggest changes (as you have done there), but it is not the place to ask for explanations on "how to get Austria into Germany". Btw, we're not forcing you to play the game. If you dislike it so much, then don't play.
