In CK:DV what would you say the most successful Muslims in your games have gotten in terms of conquering Europe?

According to a friend, in his 1066 game the Seljuk Turks promptly smashed the Byzantine Empire and steamrolled all else up to Croatia by 1130, while in Spain the Muslims took it all over (except for Barcelona) after the 1150s. By 1220 half of France was Muslim, as was northern Italy. My friend, who was Denmark, saw Muslim influence decline from thereon out.

The most successful realm I see is usually the Seljuks, who of course have a much better starting point that most of the others. Egypt almost always collapses, and while the berbers in Spain normally crush the christians, they often get crushed in return by crusaders. For some reason, the Croatians often hold significant territory there, in my games.

I'm assuming we're talking about Muslims besides the Mongols. Because I've seen screenshots of the mongol empire streching from Paris to... well Mongolia, presumably. They've never had much success in any of my games though.

The Seljuks have done very well many times. Although the most successful Muslim empire I've ever seen was the Kingdom of Egypt. I'm guessing they inherited the throne of the Seljuks, because by the time I started to care about that side of the world, Egypt controlled everything from Tunisia to Moscow to Bulgaria.

The Pope called for a crusade against them, but we were all a bit slow to jump on that bandwagon! So the Pope went by himself... and Egypt ended up with Rome as well!

I've never played a game without a lot of interference in the Muslims. The biggest I've seen is probaly Seljuks who took most of Turkey, Thracia, Persia and Syria. I've also seen Al-Mubarids (Can't remember the exact name, but basically Moroco) stretching from Tunis to most of Spain. I've seen Cuman (Pagan, I know!) own most of Russia.

In one game I had Russia united by the Volga Bulgars. Unfortunately, the Golden Horde showed up, so they couldn't build on their accomplishement. Also, the Zirids seem to unify all of Africa and sometimes push into Spain.
The Seljuks, after the great expansions under Arp Arlsan and Malikshah, generally collapse as soon as the first incompetent Seljuk raises to the throne, or switch to elective succession which makes the whole idea of a Seljuk empire pointless (God, how I wish some states had dynamic names...). Though I've seen them conquer Constantinople a few times and once even vassalize Spain, they generally stagnate in Anatolia or rush through Georgia.
In one game, the Qara-khanids somehow managed to inherit them and again all hell broke loose.

Regarding the pagan non-mongol states, usually the baltic tribes do well - in one game the Iatvigians (sp?) formed the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth 300 years before it's time, but as a pagan state.

Qarakhaninds in my latest game took large part of Balkans and Greece and held them for a century. Sardinia and Corsica were also theirs.
Seljuks tend to do well. They usually capture Constantinople and Asia Minor. I've seen them take Rome once, but it was before DV. They also managed to destroy Il-Khanate twice in one game, the second time in quite epic campain around the Caspian.

Usually the Seijuks are pretty damn successful in my games. But, the Golden Horde in one of my games surpassed them all: it stretched from Auqaitine to... Well, Mongolia I guess. And, being a (attempted) Swedish crusader egypt; that match was... Interesting.
