In my recent HSR 2.07 game on grofaz/furious it seems almost impossible to defeat the french even though our army is comparible in size if got 80inf around 5mot inf and 7 tank divs ( al of the latest type) I was able to stop the massive air offensive the allies launched at the start of poland but had to stop building anything besides interceptors.

Has anyone got a good strategy on how to tackle france on grofaz/furious???

p.s. im not complaining about the difficulty here :D loving every bit of it

When do you attack. Round ´40?
Try it earlier. ( If my guess is right )
Build more interceptors to protect your army or better more tanks to get those damned airfields :D

i attack historical so poland in sept 1939 and france/low countries in may 1940

So finding Grofaz to be cool ? ;)

First, stick to the historical date, invading France during winter will bring you in real troubles (because of winter and because of nasty events, try it for the fun once before you saved  )

You need all your troops, don't bother garnisoning USRR frontier and invade Norway later, you need to crush the french army with minimal loses (need the MP for Barbarossa) so you need all your army.

I usualy stick to a working strat : go though belgium with panzers and mot followed by infantry (at least 10 armor divs, yeah I know they are hard to get with the -50 % IC penalty) When you do that, remove most troops along the maginot and put them near Luxembourg and pin down a good part of the french army by attacking it with those troops, it will slow the redeployment of the french army near Lille area (that you want fast) because France will try to defend Luxemboug with the maginot troops. The key here is the classical one, do encirclement, Ghent is a good target, so is Bastogne or Calais, if you destroy 20-30 french divs, you should then finish them more easy. As usual for Germany, speed is the key and HQs are critical.

Your troops needs to be on offensive, it really helps. Use your stukas as much as you can on interdiction mission over important battles. Don't do ground attacks, those are for russians :p

Even with a perfect plan don't expect to get Vichy before July if you started in April. And remember you need the maginot line (Get Dijon first)

But don't worry, Grofaz is hard (God ! Felling bad to be beaten by AIs !! ) and I think HSR gives a second chance to SP with HoI (even with troops pumped from nowhere via events), so it's cool  .

Also, during my buildup, I manage to stop and slow Bismark and Tirpiz construction so they finish near July 40. Then righ after Vichy I can work on the invasion of UK (and don't lose time as winter will come fast and UK is not easy too to get). With UK in your hands, Barb will be a lot easy (or at least a little less difficult) because you don't need to protect french beaches anymore giving you more available troops.

All in all welcome to Grofaz, the place you want to be to get kicked by AI :p

Edit : Btw HSR is 2.08 now I think.

Second edit : Reread your post, I think you need more infs too, basically you need more infs, more stukas, more armors, more mots :p What did you build to miss them ? Or maybe your buildup is not optimized ? Hehe I think I will start a new game now and try to invade US

i build alot of subs so i guess ill skip them next time seeing as they are pointless :p
Invading the UK? in my game the Uk had 13 carriers and 19 battleships. My navy nearly got whipped out when they tried to transport divs to norway.

You need planes my friend :) CAS can do an excellent job at crippling the RN. And don't hesitate to engage the RN with your fleet after you finished the Tirpitz and Bismarck. Better to avoid before. If you got an air cover you will be surprised how CVs can be easy to sunk ;) But invading UK is not an easy job.

I started a new GC with Ger, it's july 38 now, Starting to pump out inf 39 (6 serials and want 12) and got already 3 serials of mot (will prolly reduce it to 2), 1 serial of INT (not enough I need a second one but can't find the IC :/ ) 1 of HQ, 2 of CAS, some brigades. I can't find IC to start armors so I am waiting on ARM 3 tech and probably end of tchekoslovakia (or whatever it's spelled :p ) I should have time to build 4-5 armors before avril 40, with events I guess I can count on 12 armors divs for french campaign wich is the minimal in Grofaz. Btw Austria built 2 panzers divs

Edit : Subs will be good if you don't invade UK btw ;)

Grofaz/Furious?

I have a good strategy: quit the game and go watch paint dry, LOL. Tag

Subs?

As Germany, I tech up to level IV subs. Great eh?!! But just after war begins in Poland, subs cannot reach an area where they could raid convoys. Sunk by RN before they can get around Scotland. Not realistic at all. Tag

Well its the hardest if ever played if played only trp and vamnilla hoi2(and ofcourse HSR :p )

KristofferN You did attack from multiple direction with HQ's(fieldmarshals) and not acrosse a river ofcourse???

then i cant see why you failed
