Hello. I am having a particular hard time with this map. I had have not many problems with this game, but on this map, i cannot seem to beat it. This map requires you to acquire 350000 gold in 34 days.

*I am aware that each theif guild house you destroy gives 5000 gold each.
*I am also aware that helping the rich merchant gives you quite a bit of gold also.

Here are some failed strategies i have tried:

1. The minimulist strategy::

Basically, i only build rangers and a marketplace. I use the rangers to search map and try to get to the amount of gold needed.

This method has failed for me because:

Monsters tend to kill me as i only have rangers, and my castle usually gets destroyed.

2. Semi-spending gold method:

This method i try to use some, but not all, of the gold, to make a stronger force. I tend to use knights, rogues, and rangers only. I can also mix it up and try for dwarves or elves, but this takes more gold as it costs gold to expand the castle.

I try to do the two above quests, but always it ends with 2 failures:

*Golems destroy my castle because i have no defenses.
*I run out of time because i have not enough gold.

3. Spend all gold method:

This method is i use every last gold coin i get for defense and troops. I even summon a lord from another realm i beat , which is kinda expensive, and so are the guard towers.

Although my castle is well protected and such, it tends to end in failure due to not having enough gold by the end of the allocated time.

Now, i emplore you to help me please. None of these methods work for me. Can you help me with the strategy you used to beat this map please? I really need your help, thanks!

Speed is the biggest challenge here, you want to win before the Elementals attack.

I started with a Ranger Guild so I could discover the Rogue guilds as quickly as possible. The only other guilds I built were one of each Fighter, Rogue, and Cleric. In all cases I did not spend any gold upgrading the guilds.

For economics I just built a Marketplace and researched the basics (potions) and a Blacksmith (researched all tier 1 gear so my heroes would spend gold there), keeping both at Tier 1.

If a Trading Post had minotaurs attacking I would build a guard tower to help defend. This was mainly only an issue for the southern posts. Attacking the minotaur pyramids also helps reduce the attacks on the posts.

Use the Orb whenever possible! It may only be a 10% boost to taxes but that 10% adds up over time!

Upgrading the Castle to tier 2 can help by increasing the number of tax collectors and base income, I did this near the end last time I played so it may not have had a huge impact.

I hope this helps, good luck!

umm this may sound noobish as i am unaware of how to use the "orb". how do i use it btw?

Oh and thanks for the tips. Once i find out what this "orb" thing is, perhaps i can beat it too!

The "Orb" is one of the relics gained in an earlier mission. Along the top of the screen, left of center, you will see a golden orb with a cross on it. Click it. Profit. The money boost is not instantly in your coffers, it will need to be collected as taxes. It resets every few minutes, I'm not sure of the exact time on it.

Don't worry, my first run though the campaign when the game first came out I didn't know how to use the relics :)

I used 3 rogue guilds. Upgraded one. The upgraded rogues handled the minotaur and elementals suprisingly well. I think only two died on the map.

Upgraded my keep so I could upgrade the blacksmith. Upgraded Blacksmith to 1000 gold leather/sword. Did not upgrade the marketplace. Researched the healing potion and amulet in the marketplace.

I built all buildings on the south side of the keep. I built 5 towers to defend the buildings and keep.

The rogues responded well to the explore and attack flags. As soon as a minotaur lair or rouge guild was revealed I put a 500 gold attack flag on it. I explored the southern part of the map first. I used 300 gold explore flags.

I totally forgot about the orb relic!

Thanks. I now see the bar with the artifacts at the top. Thanks for all your help! I beat it...now onto another hard map that...hopefully, if i need help, you guys/gals can assist me on it too!

I found this helped me out (and it may help you out for other missions as wel as you can find other youtube walkthroughs), I did make the mistake of building and upgrading too much while in this game you have to avoid too much guild-upgrades. As soon as you save the rich guy you should start saving a lot of money (because then you should be close to your goal)
