For me, this issue gets to the point of being really gamebreaking, seeing that all the high prowess characters get nuked whenever someone holds a tourney. Out of 8 contestants, usually only the winner comes out fine, everyone else is either dead or incapable. And in the late game, the AI loves spamming those damn tourneys. I tried looking for it but couldn't find any mod that disables tourneys. Anything similar?
So I know the issue, and I have a fix that will come out, but our pipelines are fully locked in and setup for all out "steppe DLC mania" the coming month.

Good thing is that this is absolutely fixable locally. I will see if I can't make you a local fix tomorrow that you can apply. It's essentially the AI being forced into a freak death/incapable/wound event if they lose the tourney round.

Thanks a lot, i don't know all that much about editing the game files, but i do imagine, it's something related to events.
Alright, so here's your easy local fix - go into this directory - or wherever you have CK3 installed

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings III\game\events\dlc\ep2\

Open up this file (preferably with a program like notepad++ where you can see which line you're at, it can be in notepad, but their UI is trickier.)

ep2_tournament_events.txt

Go to line 10717 and change the following line from this

to this

What you're doing here is simply making the "freak event of a quintain hitting you" way less deadlier - and instead of a 33% chance of death and 33% chance of rendering you incapable - it's roughly a 98% chance of giving you a wound instead.

This is not a perfect fix since it doesn't solve the underlying issue of AI being forced into this event, but for a local fix that simply makes your AI knights stop killing each other - it works great - they will simply wound each other instead. Death is still there - but it's a MUCH lower chance.

Today I have pushed a real fix to this issue - and it should no longer occur. This fix will be part of the Khans of the Steppe release, which is the next big patch we're doing.
