As in the topic. I've been using an Asus laptop for over a year now and didn't have any problems with it. It's A6JC with 1.66 Intel Centrino Duo CPU, Nvidia Geforce Go7300 graphics with 512 video memory, 1 Gigabyte RAM, Windows XP Home. I'm curious if other Asus users are using Rome and if someone with similar configuration has no problems running it - what drivers they're using, etc. Problem with Asus notebooks is that they stopped releasing graphics drivers for them, I mean for the 7300 graphics, just like Nvidia, which is ridiculous. Therefore to be up to date one has to use optimized drivers from various other websites.
Unfortunately Rome does not like my laptop - I don't know which component as the wicked Clausewitz error doesn't give me a clue what should I do to fix it:/

Anyone?

Best regards

Maciej

are you using the latest driver avaliable on the website?I've got 169.28 drivers. Maybe I should replace them with ones from the website you gave me link to.

BTW - where do you get your other laptop components drivers updated from? Asus website or other sites?

No joy....

tried running in widowed mode - crash and

Getting the same .tga errors with my lap top. Same basic problem. The Laptop provider stopped supporting the customised video card and NVidea won't do so either. Haven't seen a decent fix yet.

Folks, do you think that upgrading from 1 GB of RAM to 2 GB could fix the problem?

From what I've learned - the laptop has 128 MB of its own memory, but it takes more from the system memory - and calls it all VRAM - all together 512.So if it takes the remaining mem from the system memory it leaves not much for the windows OS and the game itself.

Could it be the problem?

Mac

Aside from the errors, most of which are cosmetic, you don't say what your actual problem is. So I don't know if more memory will help or not; if you are getting crashes then low memory is not likely to be the cause. Have you tried the drivers from teh site in post #2? Another such site is omegadrivers.net

Okm here it is:

I've just checked with at some websites and my notebook's Nvidia Geforce Go7300 has 128 MB RAM on it, 512 is max, I assume it grabs some memory from the main mem. It is an asus A6Jc Q138H (as far as i remember) and is equipped with Centrino 2 Duo 1.66 GHz CPU, 1 GB od RAM.

EU:Rome and sometimes, but much less often EUIII crashes in various ways. Either just while playing - the .exe has encountered an error and will be closed.Other issue , which prevents me from playting Rome is situation when in the main menu before I click anything the game switches to map, without any interface, works hard on the hard drive and after some time comes back to the menu. i go single player, select country and start playing, if lucky. quite quickly - few mins max - the game loses its interface and produces this wicked map again.Sometimes it happens in EU3 when moving around the world either in country selection screen or in the proper game. it looks more less like this

I'm gonna look it there are latest nviidia drivers at omega.I'm using the ones from the site mentioned above, but it made no difference.

BTW - I play various games on this laptop - from Harpoon series which is not very demanding on the graphics, through Il-2 sturmovik 46, Command and conquer 3, Company of Heroes, latest Chessmaster, War in the Pacific or Morrowind - all work ok, no graphics glitches, nothing like EU Rome or EU 3.

As you haven't given us your dxdiag.txt I can't see your video driver version, but the latest is here http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_169.21_whql.html so try applying that.

You should also use DXDIAh to determine what the correct refresh rate for the resolution you are using is, and change the refreshRate=0 line in settings.txt accordingly.
