pLEASE hELP! My dad just bought one and now I can't play any Paradox games anymore :(
I can log in to the router with the user name and password (as described in the hoi forum thread) but thats about as far as I have come. This is what it looks like.

Thanks!
Ok, so I forwarded the ports 2300-2400 and 47624 to my computers static IP, and it works once but when we want to rehost (because of a crash or whatever) I can't find the host anymore. Any clue why? This is how it worked before too btw, so I noticed no difference :(

We've tried to reboot both our computers to change IP without any luck. He's the host btw.

er are you playing a lan game with just you 2?

or are you playing on the internet. Your not too clear on this...

Assuming this is just a 2 player lan game the firewall screen is meaningless. It only related to traffic going in and out of your network. As both are you are INSIDE the network it is irelevant.

ICQ me and i can maybe help.

while we are on the subject port fowarding is meaningless within your network.

THink of it this way. Internal traffic DOESNT use the router. It just uses the hub/switch built into your router.

It is not LAN, it is internet with two players. I tried unplugging and replugging the router and it worked... for like a year of game time. Then I start getting latency from host and the date stops while he cant hear me :(

Hmm performance problems?

Doesnt really sounds like a router setting as suh. Wrong settings probably wouldnt affect performance apart from a few ISP details like MTU size (possibly)

I do remember a friend with a netgear router who had strange performance and it was cured by a firmware patch. These should be pretty simple to install.

If ports wernt being correctly fowarded it wouldnt work at all. Either that or it would start and you couldnt chat.

I've got 2300-2400, 47400-47700, and 28800-29000 open on my Netgear router and I put my computer in the DMZ. A lot of that is probably unnecessary (basically after a few too many failed connections I went on a port-opening rampage), but it works for me so it should probably work for you. I, too, have had the "1 year of gameplay, then drop" problem.

Indeed! This was exactly what fixed my year and a half of serious connection problems. They also sound somewhat the same as Flamey's probs.

If you put your computer in the DMZ zone you don't need to forward ports. DMZ makes all ports open for your computer. If you use DMZ make sure you have a software firewall at least.

I use a netgear router. Forwarding 2300-2400 and 47624. And it works without problem. So, it's a question of stability : your ethernet card, your router, your modem or your ISP.

edit - ultimatly, it could even be your mothercard.

Forwarding port 2300 and 47624 only with your router is enough. You need to make sure your firewall has 2300-2300 and 47624 open though.

And yes, considering flamey can play for a year, it sounds like a stability problem.

Yeah at the risk of repeating myself, and others its not port fowarding!

Noone mention DMZ or ports again on this thread. You cant play the game unless the correct ports and avaliable.

Update firmwhere, test without router, test other internet apps.

Check performance on a performance measuring site.
