AoD - Fall of the Dragon v2.0

AoD - Fall of the Dragon v2.0

Version 2.0 of the Fall of the Dragon mod is done! You'll find the file at the end of this post. To install, just unzip and copy the files in your AoD folder. A lot of stuff has been changed since v1.0:


Nationalist China
The Chinese warlords might refuse the alliance offer Nationalist China makes in case of a Japanese or Soviet attack.

Communist China
You can refuse Nationalist China's peace offer after the Xi'an incident and continue the civil war. We added a "The Fading Sun" event chain too: Fight the Japanese back to Korea and let the Red Dragon rise (special thanks to Illumini).

Japan
Once the United Front is beaten, you might release a new Chinese puppet called the Republic of China with cores around Nanjing but little support in the rest of China. There are events to hand over Sinkiang, Tibetan and communist Chinese territories to this puppet too plus a special building AI for this new country.

Soviet Union
After China's surrender to Japan you have the chance to install a puppet governmet in Sinkiang.

Germany
Germany got a new puppet too: Muscovy, a nationalist state with a government in Moscow. If you choose to fight out a second war with the Soviets, you can force them to accept a second Bitter Peace which will reduce the once mighty Soviet Union to a right-wing buffer state between you and Japan.
Muscovy is complete with flag, counters, tech teams, ministers, leaders, pictures and everything else.


This mod is complete (it works fine for me), but will still be improved. I will add Britain's reworked surrender events, more ministers, improved tech teams for the Republic of China and much more.

The update from 2.0 to 2.1 is out! To install, simply copy the files from the zip folder into the AoD folder where Fall of the Dragon 2.0 is installed.

Great to see somebody else work on the chinese theatre. Your changes look good this far. I've done some minor modding myself, focusing on making com china much more fun to play:
1: Made an event to allow com china to refuse united front (you already did this better)
2: Made a Japan surrenders to communist china event
3: Made an event that gives communist china their 'win the civil war tech teams' when they have forced peace with the japanese (as playing com china after beating the japs now is just waiting and producing hordes of inf)
4: Made an event to simulate Soviet support to com china when they force peace with japanese. (Soviet - com china relations were good in the early years of the PRC) - having an issue with an added tech team here

One more thing I would love from this mod, is a way for com china to get some of the remaining forces of nat china if they are annexed. (like nat china gets warlord troops now). Historically, Com China forces swelled greatly with both warlord and nat china troops in similar ways to what is modelled for nat china in game. Example: Manchurian communist forces swelled from 50.000 to over 500.000 in 1949. These new troops were nat china warlord troops that were demobilized and then joined the commies.

That is pretty much what I did, I had to fix it a bit, as Japan kept some random provinces. They probably do that in the regular event too, so it should probably be fixed there too.

Why not just integrate the events from CCIP? It seems to work fine and has pretty much all of the changes for China you listed as well as a lot more postwar events. (A choice of new government after victory, a chance to move the capital back to Beijing, an ultimatum to the warlords for unification, etc.)

The links are dead (not the one in your signature, the ones in the CCIP thread) and I won't read the whole AAR to check all events out (I think I have read it one year ago or so). Do you have a changelog?

I wouldn't advocate taking the whole thing but certain bits, like the warlord Ultimatum events make a whole lot of sense and you haven't coded them yet. (The basic idea is that after victory over both the commies and the Japanese, Nat. China can demand that the warlords surrender. Most likely they will, but there's a chance that they'll fight. This is much more realistic than the clumsiness of having to kick them out of your alliance individually and then declare war on them piecemeal.)

As for whether it makes it easier, it definitely does after the war with Japan. The United China events lead to better tech teams (3-4's and 1 or 2 5's instead of the 2's you had before.)

The choosing the government event is a decent choice. It gives four choices. (Rally behind the Generallisimo, Bourgeoisie coalition, Popular front, or conservative clique) Every one will give 10% dissent, and they all hurt and help in other ways. (Anything but rally behind the Generalissimo will remove Chiang Kai Shek and a lot of other generals. However, Bourgeoisie coalition gets 1 more free market and makes you more democratic it might be worth it.)

I'm thinking about the Alliance events and I can't remember any entrance ones. The two events are an additional tech team from joining the Axis or the Allies that gets withdrawn if China leaves. I don't recall any events that would actually put China into an Alliance with the Axis or the Allies.
 
Hmm... maybe I confuse that alliance offer thing with another mod.

I think CHC gets a 80% or so chance of claiming the warlords territory after CHI is gone. The Ultimatum idea is good, but I'd rather like CHI to fight it out. Xibei San Ma, however, should have a high chance of joing without a war.
